This book is well written and really depicts the lives we have/had. Each woman has grown up in a very different way with some trauma they remember.
Throughout the book you learn about their present lives, how the feel about it and wonder how the dreams the had growing up that many didn't materialze and maybe at this late stage, never would.
The author gave a very descriptive look into the current lives of all seven women. Some who had different partners since their relationships didn't work out. Their famuly dynamics are lightly touched on, but most of the time they are discussing topics together and wondering where their younger age dreams and remember their goals and dreams they had before.
The book was entertaining, revealing and flowed very well amongst the characters. I appears to be a heart felt give and take, I envied the fact that they could all get together once again and talk about things.
It is a very easy and worthwhile read and you don't want to miss it!

I was really excited to request this book because the premise sounded right up my alley. I especially love books with more “mature” characters and I honestly wish there were more stories like that.

I’m so glad this one lived up to my expectations. I really enjoyed the writing style and I felt connected to every single woman in this book. I loved how it follows different women reflecting on their lives, past traumas, relationships that didn’t work out and the dreams they never got to pursue. It handled all of those topics with so much care and tenderness. I don’t want to give too much of the story away, but I got really emotional at times.
I was completely immersed from beginning to end and I found myself thinking about my own life while reading it. This book will stay with me, for a long time.
It felt like such a unique read and I honestly can’t think of another book quite like it. I’d definitely recommend picking this one up.

This was a beautiful, almost lyrical story about a group of upper middle aged women who come together for a weekend camping trip. The reader gets an insider’s view into the dynamics of their relationships, how they know each other, and the way they feel about their respective lives. It’s written in such a way that you feel like a member of the group, experiencing everything the group is. This is a very reflective book, and the author does a wonderful job of leading the reader to introspection as she unfurls the life, history, and connections of each character. Is your life everything you hoped it would be? Did your careful plans work out? Where do you fit in?
I love that as these women gather for a weekend, it’s the small moments of togetherness and connection that provide the reassurance and strength they individually need. This is a wonderful late summer read that highlights the importance of female friendships, nature, and the preciousness of life.

Sixty Percent Chance of Rain follows seven women—some long-time friends and others who have joined the group through different connections—who get together for a weekend camping trip. During the trip, the reader gets an introspective view of the women’s current lives, including their challenges, joys and doubts, while also getting glimpses into their pasts and how their past experiences connect to who they are in the present.
This is a character-driven novel that explores deep and complex subjects such as sexuality, religion, motherhood, well-being, relationships and identity. Through ordinary moments in the characters’ lives, the novel makes you question many things in your own life, particularly the question: “Would you trade what you have?”
One of the things I enjoyed most was how relatable the characters felt. The novel explores community, support and the power of female friendship through complex and imperfect characters. It doesn't romanticize life; instead, it shows it as it happens, without embellishment. There is something very real about the way the characters experience their relationships, doubts and everyday lives.
One moment that particularly stayed with me was when one of the characters reflects on how we can be afraid not only of failure, but also of success. I found this very relatable, and it was one of those moments that made me stop and reflect on my own life.
I also really enjoyed the writing style. It is an easy, fast-paced and reflective read. The changes in sentence structure give the narrative impact and keep it moving. At times, I felt as though I was right there at the camp with the characters. The story almost moves like a movie, with scenes unfolding naturally and quickly.
The main difficulty I had with the novel was keeping track of all seven main characters. At times, I got lost between their different stories, and some of their storylines felt unresolved or unfinished. However, I think this is intentional, because life itself doesn't always give us closure. We don't always get to know what happens next, even when we really want to. In the same way, I found myself wanting to know what would happen to these women after the camping trip.
Overall, I enjoyed Sixty Percent Chance of Rain. It was an easy and fast-paced read, but also one that made me reflect on my own life and the choices we make. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys character-driven literary fiction, particularly stories about female friendships and the complexities of women’s lives.

The setup is simple: seven women, some old friends, some connected more loosely, spend a weekend camping together.
What unfolds from it is a rich, character-driven look at where their lives actually landed. Sexuality, religion, motherhood, faith, the relationships that didn't work out, the dreams that quietly slipped away or never got chased in the first place: it's all here, and it's handled with real care!!
This book shows life as it actually is really really well. All of the doubts, small joys, things left unresolved, sitting next to each other the way they do in real conversations between people who've known each other a long time.
That honesty is what makes it land.
I felt connected to nearly every woman on the page, which is no small thing to pull off across seven distinct people in a fairly short novel. Moreover, the backgrounds are specific enough that each character stays relatable rather than blurring into "type," even with that many perspectives competing for space.
However, the one real challenge is exactly that. Seven women is a lot to hold onto at once, and I did lose the thread on who was who more than once. There were a few storylines trailing off without a clean resolution in my opinion. But, on the other hand, it also read like a deliberate choice rather than a loose end. Life doesn't hand out closure on a schedule, and the book seems to know that. And it didn't stop me from wanting to know what happened to these women once the weekend ended.
Overall, this is a quick, easy read carrying some genuinely heavy topics, and it comes out the other side really hopeful (which I adored). Reading it felt uncannily like an actual camping trip with old friends (haha) and I would recommended for anyone who loves character driven fiction about female friendship and the complicated, unfinished business of women's lives.

ive not read anything like this before and it was a pleasant surprise every step of the way. when we think of people reflecting or sitting round the camp fire together, mostly the picture is of men. so i loved that we have these woman doing the same. and i love how connected i managed to feel to all the woman whether they had lives like my own or not. what i love so much is just how emotional and involved we were able to get and feel. i very much cared about these woman very quickly and did find myself getting more than usual emotional about them. not in an over the top way but just touched by their voices and character arcs.
i think so much of how i felt about these woman was down to the wonderful writing of Audrey. Audrey seems like they cared for these woman. they were all given their time and thought and in doing this that reflected right into me as a reader.
all the woman come to the campfire with different journeys to that very moment. and we get to see how their lives did work, didn't, what got them to here and just how they felt about the terms of their lives both past and present.
the moments are huge, for story line sake and i never felt we were learning things of them just for the plot tick list. instead those little moments, those moments that mean most were all intermingled between the woman and their lives.
i dont think ive felt quite so connected to every single character as i managed to be here. the woman were everyday woman, they had all their own foibles, but they were all so human and bought to life.
it felt like i was the other member round the fire. like i was there listening to these woman too. and i love that this book did this for me even in the length of the read which was quite a short one.
