I loved that we got a glimpse into the future before jumping back in time to see how everything actually unfolded.
Julia is such a fun character already. I love her qualities and how protective she is of her friend, that kind of loyalty always gets me invested fast.
The art style took me by surprise a bit, it's not something I'm used to, but it worked really well for this setting.
Only 40 pages in and I'm already curious to see where this goes.

[thank you NetGalley for this early copy]
Where do I start? It’s full of whimsy, mystery and nostalgia. I love the circus vibe mixed in with the supernatural and the art to support it all is delicious and lush. Too bad this was only the first episode because I’m already panting to read the whole thing.

Marionetta is a fantasy comic in a roughly WW1 syled setting, however the main story revolves around a most likely magical circus. The art was colourful and expressive, some of the facial expressions feel like inspired by manga. I liked the contrast between a dutiful Julia and carefree Kamille (who's also implied to be queer). I liked when Julia was looking for Kamille and describing her, she managed to do so without mentioning Kamille's race or skin colour. The introduction of various monsters gave it a dark fantasy / horror vibe. This was only a 70-page sample, so the story didn't manage to progress far, but the setup with the "devil's pact" was interesting, and there's a flash forward prologue that piques extra interest. I would be curious to keep reading on.

After getting a taste of what is quite obviously the beginning to an amazing story with the sampler provided to me, I can't wait to get my hand on a physical copy of Marionetta once it comes out.
I loved the simple yet detailed art style, and the way Marionetta gets introduced. I need to know where her story goes from the quite mean cliffhanger at the end, and will check out the webtoon as soon as possible - the comic really captivated me that much.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.
Intriguing, puzzling and gripping. I may have gone into reading this knowing that it was a sampler, but when I got to the end of the sampler, I was shocked. The world and narrative is instantly immersive and I want to know more. I love that the core of this appears to be friendship wrapped with mystery and I can't wait to see where this goes.
A fantastic sampler for the next Graphic Novel by this author! I can't wait to read the full length book. It will be great to be able to recommend to the people who loved Hooky!

Thank you netgalley for a sample of this book for an honest review.
Picking up this story I was excepting something a little different, yet I loved what I read so far.
Two friends going to a circus, yet one is more curious then she should be leading her into a dangerous situation, the art was beautiful and after reading 40 pages left it on a cliffhanger I really wanna know the rest of the story so will keep my eye s out for the full release.
The main charcter is very head strong from what I read so far and enjoyed her being that way.

I just read this sampler in one sitting and was sooo disappointed when it finished! I loved the author's 'Hooky' so I was super excited to give Marionetta a go, and I will definitely be finding the full thing!
It seems to be set in a dystopian world, where people with a third eye are considered strange and are locked up, and magic is illegal.
I will be getting my hands on it once the print version of the webtoon comes out in october!
