Description
Second in an immersive fantasy duology from the Sunday Times and New York Times bestselling author of THE DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE and STRANGE THE DREAMER, Laini Taylor.
Whisper Silksinger is the last of the secret guardians of the Azazel, one of the powerful Djinn who dreamed the world into being. Relentlessly pursued by bloodthirsty devils, she flees to the city of Nazneen to restore the Azazel to his temple. At the same time, Hirik Mothmage is also on a secret quest, to find the Azazel and restore his disgraced clan's ancient honour.
And behind them all flies Magpie Windwitch, first champion of the new age of faeries, desperate to rescue Whisper and the Azazel alike before they fall in the clutches of a sinister hidden enemy.

Thank you very much for the ARC! At this point, I thought this book lost media, so I am over the roof with the re-releash. And what a beautiful cover!
Silksinger is an absolute masterpiece, and honestly, Laini Taylor is just on another level when it comes to fantasy. This sequel takes all the magical vibes from the first book and amps the stakes up to eleven. Her writing is so incredibly gorgeous and poetic that you feel totally sucked into this world of tiny faeries, giant crows, and ancient magic.
Whisper Silksinger is such a fantastic new character—she is terrified but so incredibly brave, and watching her try to protect the last Djinn while running from terrifying devil hunters is pure, heart-pounding entertainment. Plus, getting Magpie and her awesome crew back into the mix makes the whole story feel like a grand, epic adventure. The pacing never slows down, the world feels so big and alive, and the ending completely sticks the landing. It is a flawless, magical five-star read that you will want to devour in one sitting.
Thank you very much once again! I simply love Taylor's writing and book ideas!

I liked this even more than the first book. As well as following Magpie and Talon's adventures (and hilariously budding romance!), we meet two new characters: Whisper and Hirik. They both have mysterious and tragic pasts which predispose them to hate each other, and they have to overcome their prejudice in order to save the next Djinn Lord. And a snail saves the day - hooray for unlikely heroes!
This is cosy and fun, with just the right amount of darkness to make it feel real and emotionally compelling. The only thing I didn't love was that we're shown who the antagonist is quite early on, which reduced the suspense. But I still have a lot of suspense built up for the next instalment! I truly hope Laini Taylor is planning to finish this series now that these first books have been re-released.
