Description
What if every full moon shaped the course of your life?
After losing her parents in a brutal Alaskan blizzard, Lyka is raised by two loving fathers in Farpont—a remote town where werewolves, known as fur folk, live openly among humans. Each chapter, marked by a full moon, reveals a new lesson as Lyka comes of age—exploring love, grief, identity, friendship, prejudice, and the search for belonging.
Lyka’s memoir unfolds one moon at a time. From first love and heartbreaking loss to mysterious creatures lurking beyond the Alaskan forests, every chapter brings new revelations. What begins as Lyka’s unconventional coming-of-age story soon becomes the chronicle of an entire community—where every monster has a history, every family is forged by sacrifice, and every season shimmers with its own magic.
Blending literary fantasy, rich folklore, and paranormal adventure, this standalone novel reimagines werewolves as ordinary people facing extraordinary challenges. As Lyka’s story widens, so does the tapestry of Farpont—introducing magical beings inspired by legend, heartfelt LGBTQ+ representation, and unforgettable friendships. In this world, every full moon reveals another piece of the human experience.
More than a werewolf novel, Thirteen Moons: The Werewolf Almanac is a heartfelt exploration of found family, resilience, and hope.

Advance Praise
"This wasn’t what I expected, it turned out to be better. This is a werewolf novel that tells one story from Lyka’s life for each one of the 13 full moons of the year, spanning from her childhood to seeing her own child grown up.
Emotional and character driven werewolf story that has jumped to the top of my favorite reads of the year, absolutely recommend."

"Wow! What a heartfelt story. I absolutely adored this coming of age story that is so much more than your average werewolf story. I loved how character driven the story was and really admired how the author had used werewolfs to mirror the LGBT experience of discovering found family etc.
5 stars no notes."

"Thirteen Moons is a great read, but it certainly hurt my heart. This book reads like a memoir as though Lyka is telling her story with moments which defined who she is as a person. Lyka’s found family is full of ‘characters’ and loved. I enjoyed Thirteen Moons but be warned I had a serious ugly cry while reading the book.
(4.5 Stars is my real rating)"
- Stephanie Hunter (NetGalley)
"This book covered a lot of time and character development in a fairly short page count. I like how it was structured like interconnected short stories throughout the main character's life. I enjoyed the writing style and the characters. The aspects of world building included in the first parts were interesting but the later sections didn't have as much for reasons that made sense with the direction the overall story went. The jumps around in time from chapter to chapter were interesting and well ordered and told a cohesive story overall, but at times it was hard to tell if we were going forward or backwards in time (or sometimes how far in a direction even if I could tell which one) until context clues showed up several pages into the chapter. This is good for people looking for a cozy read that prioritizes the characters and the main character's arc more than a complicated plot line."

"C.A. Boozarjomehri did an amazing job with this debut novel.
It's a heartfelt coming-of-age fantasy that beautifully explores family, identity, community, and the moments that shape who we become.
I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll keep this review short. This book is absolutely worth picking up. I was genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed it, and once I started reading, I couldn't put it down until I finished. If you're looking for an emotional, character-driven fantasy, I'd definitely recommend giving this one a try."

"Thirteen moons is a bit of a slow burn, and it is beautifully done! I found myself not wanting to finish this book because I loved how cozy it made me feel!"
-Kate Brasington (Goodreads)
"werewolves 🤝 folklore 🤝 "wait... why is this fictional almanac making me want to believe werewolves are real?"
okay but...i LOVE when authors fully commit to a concept and making an entire book read like a real werewolf field guide/almanac???yeah, that was such a fun idea!"
-Ally (Goodreads)
"I went into this not knowing what to expect, and low and behold it was extremely different than what i usually read.
BUT it was so damn good, the format was excellent, i love how it wasn't always linear"
-Camille Kane (Goodreads)
"The writing was beautiful, I loved the characters and their magic system. I liked that we didn't get like a fully fleshed explanation so it made it feel more magical. Everything was shown and not told to us which I really appreciate.
I would definitely recommend this book and read something from this author again!"
-Cameron Grahl (NetGalley)
"Excellent!
This book is so much more than just another werewolf novel. Better than anything I imagined. I liked how Lyka Aewyn’s life story was wrapped into the meanings of the thirteen moons in a way that was deeply personal. I laughed, I cried, I sighed. What a wonderful story! I received an advance copy, but my review is honest and voluntary."
