Description

When the world around you collapses, the only choice is to let it.

C.A. Kuhlmey's life—his marriage, his spiritual ideals, his very sense of self—crumbles in ways both intimate and cosmic. In this unflinching collection of essays and fables, he navigates addiction, loss, and the seductive illusions of spiritual communities, charting the wreckage of a life lived at the edge of belief.

Through non-linear “airwaves,” visions, encounters, and hard-won revelations expose the illusions we chase and the truths we resist. This journey through love, obsession, and surrender illuminates the tension between desire and reality, and the perilous pursuit of meaning in a world full of false guides.

Part memoir, part spiritual inquiry, Fables of the Deconstruction: Vol. 1: The Ghost in You is a candid reckoning with failure, devotion, and the difficult work of letting go—and finding a life beyond the dream of the unreal.

A Note From the Publisher

Christopher Kuhlmey was born in the North Side of Chicago, spending many years immersed in the spiritual world of San Diego, CA. He attended the University of Santa Monica for his BA in Spiritual Psychology, and Ryokan College for his PsyD. in Clinical Psychology. He has also submerged himself in the worlds of meditation and plant medicine. Chris grew up in the punk rock / alternative music space and worked in the automotive industry. His experience is a unique blend of blue collar and spiritually esoteric influences. He brings a non-traditional, heterodoxic viewpoint to relationships, spirituality, and life.

Advance Praise

"C.A. Kuhlmey’s Fables of the Deconstruction is an exceptional compilation of memoir essays, and Kuhlmey’s visionary way of seeing the world gives the book much of its character. Kuhlmey has a gift for taking an everyday moment into spiritual possibility, and that instinct feels wonderfully natural here. " — Readers' Favorite

"[Fables of the Deconstruction] gives readers a powerfully impactful, literary set of stories and experiences that are not just inspirational and revealing, but allegorical." — Midwest Book Review

"C.A. Kuhmley explores the profound unraveling of his life in Fables of the Deconstruction: Volume 1: The Ghost in You. His writing style is emotionally raw and philosophical. Kuhmley opens the door and invites us into an unguarded private view of love, addiction and the search for meaning - amidst chaos and (dis)-illusion. A boldly captivating and thought provoking account!" — Sonja Koch, author of Bookends of Life

"The Ghost in You is a collection of essays about one person's journey into mental and spiritual collapse. Trying to piece himself back together, he looks inwardly and questions his entire belief system. Mixing ideas of mysticism with psychological evaluations of himself, Reality and what is perceived reality drift back and forth throughout the book, at the moments defined by what the author refers to as "airwaves."" — Arthur Jenkins, author of The Prince of Brown
