Why do we have different perceptions of climate change and reality in general? Research shows that our brains adapted to aid our survival and not to see reality as it is. The biases and brain traits we inherit, our “genetic chaperones”, aid our survival with false perceptions of reality, e.g., ego enhancing biases that increase our confidence. While some neurological processes make it difficult to know when our perceptions are false, a method is described that helps to verify our perceptions.
