New Salem Books is the indie publisher of RING ON DELI, a novel by Eric Giroux about supermarkets and democracy. Our name was inspired by Abraham Lincoln's first hometown as an independent adult. In New Salem, Illinois, Lincoln ran a store, served as postal clerk and surveyor, fell in love--and read voraciously. We make books we hope he'd like.
