The basic quality of this book is clearly high: photos, text and layout are all very well composed. I am not surprised knowing the background of the author.

More surprising is the approach to not only show nice homes from different big cities in the world but also to describe and present the brains behind. To make the reader meet the people living in their homes is exciting and ads a lot to the reading experience.

And so does the different solutions, mix of furniture, decor and colours in all homes. Very inspiring. Bricks and brains!

Lovely compilation of snapshots of interior design and living styles in houses in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Cape Town, Buenos Aires, Uruguay, Mexico City and New York City.

The design philosophy is explained, and the homes featured belong to creative artists specializing in interior design, architecture, graphic design, and photographers.

The photographs are very well done, and I enjoyed having a peek at the minimalism, wabi-sabi, healing, cosy, and off-the grid home styles.

'Home Life Around the World' is a beautiful book focused on gorgeous photographs of personal homes of a variety of different professional creatives. I had assumed this would be a coffee table-type book with large photographic spreads and minimal actual written content, but I was completely wrong. Each of the creatives is given several pages to share their story, thoughts, and reflections about their homes and what they hold. This makes for really fascinating reading. The photographs are beautiful, and really do the gorgeous homes justice. I found myself full of envy for a couple of these homes and the owners' creative genius. I'd highly recommend this book if, like me, you love to have a nosey into the lives of others!

The Home & Gardens section of Publishers Weekly, the February 12th issue, sees a shift of emphasis in this genre from aspirational eye candy to authenticity. Books giving people the confidence to create houses that tell their stories. A healthy trend to my way of thinking, and “Home Life Around the World” is definitely a part of it. Not a how-to book, but one that entertains and inspires in its own way. The author has travelled the world to find the homes she presents. The result pulls you in. The homes described in eye-catching photos and perceptive texts belong to creative people based in Asia, Africa and the Americas. Their homes mirror who and what they are, rather than who or what they would rather be. Those of us who never aspired to showcase homes but let our living space take shape gradually and not necessarily as a coherent whole - life never is a coherent whole - will probably feel better about the result after reading this author’s foray into home life around the world.

This is a book that I requested via NetGalley because I have had an obsession with home improvement shows for the past couple of years.

The variety of ideas that people have, and the different styles that please different people has been an interesting human nature study. Though I may not like the same things as the people in those shows, it is still fun to see where the thought comes from. This book has encompassed all that into one book. We see people in mostly creative roles in life and the homes that they have built/made their own in their own little corner of the world. I would have enjoyed if there were more photographs, but I liked it nonetheless. A lot of thought has gone into what the people featured in the book, have done with their living quarters and it is interesting to see that thought process being explained. It is a definitely a good book to have an a coffee table.I am glad I got a chance to read and review it.

From cozy to vibrant, this book has some of the most beautiful decorating ideas that I have ever seen. I love that the bountiful supply of photographs show homes from all over the world, not just the US. To make the book even more enticing, there is a bit of information about the people who live in these homes.

This would be a nice edition to display on your coffee table and look to for ideas.

Beautiful exploration of different homes around the world. There was definitely a heavy emphasis on Hong Kong, south america, and the US. Overall, the interiors were stunning and inspiring and I think other readers who enjoy design and seeing home styles will really enjoy reading the stories and seeing the unique and special houses.

Home Life Around the World is so much more then a book of pictures taken in rooms of peoples houses. Not only does the book show you rooms for personal homes but it also introduces you to those people and even tells you some of the reasons for the designs. The pictures are taken from around the world and the people are from different walks of life.

Some of the designs I fell in love with, some were over the top for me and some were too bland. There was at least one thing in just about every room I did like if not love. There was a bright red couch in one living room with colorful pillows in a stark white room. I just loved it.

A lot of people may think why would you want to read a book or look at the pictures of someones living room or bedroom or other room. I love art, and I look for it all over the place. Each of these peoples rooms are actually a work of art to me. They express themselves with objects more then mediums, and I really enjoyed it.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.

What a glorious book, not because the homes are perfect, but because they reflect the personality of the owners, they are lived in homes, homes that are comfortable and have their own quirky style. They don't follow trends but are homes that are designed by and for the people living in them.
I really like the ease, personality and comfort shown in the living of these homes

This book is a surprising pleasure, I had expected it to be an over the top home design coffee table type book. While I didn't find it to be the kind of book that I could just sit and read like a novel, it's not like just flipping through the pages of a magazine either. However, the photos are extremely well done. The stories that go along with the photos give a deeper perspective on the thoughts of the homeowners' design tastes.
While I can't just sit and read it through I found myself looking at it, again and again, enjoying the photos and stories at a leisurely pace. I have found it very enjoyable having a look at the homes from around the world.

In this read we get a look into the homes of creatives.

When I think of home I think of a daily retreat one can escape to. I found details I like in many of the images contained in this book an enjoyed reading as the people reflect about themselves and their homes and the reasons behind some of their designs.

I would have enjoyed it more if there were more photographs were included. But below are a few of them I liked and the reasons.

An odd mix of furniture and art generally attract my attention. I typically like a mix of metal or iron with wood and exposed brick. So, with that said a few of the images that stood out in this book to me were.

The section on Industrial Living in Shanghai. It has a full wall of brick and an awesome wooden table displayed in the room. I felt this page would have worked well on the cover denoting the coffee-table type book of interiors. I was also impressed with the chest in their living room. When looking through the images of this home it is not difficult to tell the owner is also a furniture designer and maker.

In the Mexico City home it was the bold colors that attracted my eye.

I enjoy touring the Collector's Paradise from Manhattan. It has a extraordinary collection of art that looks to be from different time periods. And as someone who spends much of my free time reading, my favorite image was that of a wooden chest full of books.

This was an enjoyable read and I feel this book will inspire many to create their own haven.

I think this is a great coffee table book - every once in a while I'd want to thumb through it to get more inspiration from living in a city apartment! Of course, there are aspects of it that make me green with jealousy (the beautiful homes), however I feel that ultimately it comes down to how we all see our homes "a home is a place where I feel safe. Where I have confidence' or 'a place where I put my heart'

A beautifully photographed trip around the world, looking at different approaches and tastes in designing our homes. Not a look into the houses of the extremely privileged, but a mix of many types of creative people who have focused on making their homes special and personal. Lots of interesting viewpoints on creating individual spaces to nurture and shelter us. Definitely a book I will keep coming back to.
Many thanks to the publisher and netgalley for a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.

The author lets us into the intimate spaces and minds of various creative people around the world. And as we get to know their homes, we get to know them.

Each photo essay is inspirational, giving the reader ideas about their own spaces and their own lives.

Thank you to Net Galley for an ARC of this title in return for my honest review.

I enjoyed this coffee table book that gives glimpses into several people’s homes in countries such as South Africa, Mexico, Hong Kong and US. I Enjoyed reading what makes home for others and not surprisingly it was having a place that was cozy, a haven, a place to celebrate life with the people and animals that matter most to them. It is a book that reinforces the value of life and how important it is to create a space that you can be completely you in,

A super coffee table book with a vast array of home interiors from around the world. The owner of each of the fourteen homes explains what 'home' means to them. I enjoyed reading about each of the home owners and there a so many ideas to be found from the photographs if you are looking inspiration for your own home. I would have liked to have seen examples of European homes included too... but maybe that's for the next book!

Love this and would happily recommend.
I am always intrigued what homes look like on the inside and how others styles work. Some beautiful homes contained within. Thank you for the copy.

This book by Ms. Beijer is beautiful, and her photography skills lend themselves perfectly to showing how people's homes reflect themselves. The one that stuck out most to me was the apartment of a professional tango dancer. Without being able to say how or why, you could feel the energy and passion of a dancer throughout the space, in the bright colors and the dusty looking floor. She managed to make all her subjects, whether furniture or the people who occupied the chairs and couches, look beautiful and spontaneous. Two thumbs up for both subtlety of work and human focused story telling.

This collection of home photographs would make a great coffee-table book.

Inside you will find pictures of beautiful and carefully-decorated spaces from around the world. The homes depicted have different styles but the coziness and sense of place well lived-in was a common theme.

I love browsing through inspiring and creative photographs so this was an enjoyable read. I recommend it.
