Description

My name is Dr. Leonid Altshuler M.D.. I am a board-certified psychiatrist.

I went through years of misdiagnosis and suffering before I discovered an innate connection between stress, diet and physical and mental illnesses. In recent times there have been many scientific articles published in psychiatric magazines, and I wish to share some information with my readers pertaining to these articles.

The long-term use of antidepressant medication has been studied meticulously over the years. It has become obvious that at some point in the treatment most patients taking antidepressant medications for depression and anxiety became partial responders or non-responders.

The conclusion is that at some point the brain starts to resist the changes made by the medications. It pushes back, trying to restructure and reorganize itself in a natural way.

This means the psychiatrist would need either to increase the dose of the current medication or add another medication, and the patient has to undergo constant medication management.

I became aware of this and these days I try to treat my patients with therapy to avoid unnecessary usage of medication.

In this book I will present several anonymized unique patient cases I’ve managed to treat successfully with very unusual forms of therapy without the help of medications.

I will also talk about neuroplasticity, different cooping skills like meditations and breathing exercises as well as progressive muscle relaxation.

I will also present here some conversation with the famous Nepalese healer Dr. Amir who talks about the major causes of depression, anxiety , insomnia, and dementia and outlines a successful holistic approach to treatment in these cases, including different types of the meditation, dieting, fasting, water intake and on the usage of electronic equipment.

This book does not replace the advice of your medical practitioner, it is intended to support the work of your medical practitioner and to help you or a loved one to achieve good health.
