Description

No Ordinary Joe: The Life and Career of Joe Biden tells the story of Joseph Robinette Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee for the 2020 US presidential election. Over the course of his long career, Biden has bounced back from ridiculous gaffes, humiliating scandals, political defeats, unimaginable personal tragedy, and being read the last rites.

Even Biden's rivals have paid tribute to his incredible capacity to continue through the worst that life can throw at him. If Joe Biden's latest - and probably final - campaign ends with him becoming the oldest man ever elected as America's president, it will be his most triumphant comeback of all.

This is the remarkable life of the man who just might become the 46th President of the United States.

The perfect read to gain an insight into Joe Biden. I read a lot of political books and articles so for the most part it didn’t tell me anything new but for those that don’t read and follow political things as intensely this would be a great read

No Ordinary Joe gave me a different perspective on Joe Biden. I was pretty familiar with his major life events but this book added a more personal spin. I liked the book as It did not take a political side or glorify Joe Biden, denounce Donald Trump or make an election prediction. It did in the final chapters list Biden's political stance on a variety of issues. That alone makes it a timely read. If you are tired of watching the cable and network news and their opinionated commentary about the two major candidates this is a good way to find out information with out being bombarded by biased trivia. The book is an easy and quick read so you won't find it burdensome. The only question it leaves is one you will have to answer yourself. Is Joe Biden real or a product of the "swamp". Thanks to #NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

With the election looming ever closer I am really hoping that Biden wins, This book gives a fantastic insight into who Joe is and a fascinating look at his career. He has endured a great deal of heartache and I admire his strength courage and dignity. Thanks to Netgalley for the preview of this book and best of luck to Joe in his campaign.

No Ordinary Joe by David Hagen is an admiring biography of Joe Biden from his early life in Scranton, PA, to his entry into politics, his role as Vice President to Barrack Obama and his candidacy for the Presidency of the United States. It is an honest and attractive profile of the man, his many personal qualities and outstanding achievements in public life. There is not much new information about Joe Biden in this book, but for those who do not know him or want to get to know him better, the book is easy reading and provides compelling arguments as to why Joe Biden would make a good President of the United States.

A thorough, easy-to-read, comprehensive look at the life and career of Joe Biden. I would recommend everyone read this book, but especially those who want to understand the trajectory of his political career and the impact he's made in Washington for the last 50 years.

The book gives a quick history of Joe Biden. I read it as there were many things I did not know about him. I think he was very generous about Joe's history. It was well written and my rating has to do with that rather than as a supporter for the candidate.

This book goes through the history of Joe Biden's personal and political life. This is a quick read, yet a comprehensive history of the potential next POTUS. It's a short book, so it's great for people who want to know more about Biden but don't want to read a 500-page political history book. It's very straightforward - it's neither anti- nor pro-Biden, but simply a fair layout of his history.

For someone like me who is obsessed with politics, there wasn't anything I didn't already know in here. However, it was very well-researched and there were some small details that I had never read before. My one bone to pick with this is that since the time this was published, Biden's policies written in this book are very outdated, which is expected.

If you're looking for a short yet all-inclusive overview of Joe Biden, this book is for you. And if you want to educate yourself on the presidential candidate, this is the book I would recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for providing me with an ARC in exchange from my honest review. NO ORDINARY JOE was released May 23, 2020.

Great book about Joe Biden which tells a lot about his grandparents, parents and his home life as a child.
The schools he went to.and his friends.
Joe had a lot of unhappiness in his 1st marriage, when he lost both a baby daughter and the love of his life in a bad car wreck. He also had two little boys,Hunter and Beau who were injured and in the hospital. This as something,he liked to never recovered from.
But,he had a lot of perseverance, two sons to raise and a living to make.
He got into politics, when he was quite young, becoming the youngest Senator from Delaware.
He made a perfect Vice -President for Obama and especially helped him with foreign policy.
He will be an especially good man to take on Trump and I personally read nothing in the book that referred to him being sleepy,in fact, his friends call him.Lucky!
Thank you to Net Galley for the opportunity to read and review, such a well written book.

This campaign bio is an interesting mix of truth teller and hagiography. Though when first reading this book reads like the subject Senator and former Vice President Joe Biden should be sainted. Yet amidst that, as if there were more than one author putting this book together, there are tell all notes that describe his failures.

There is enough here for anyone to like, If you support the candidate for President there are all the elements of his story and more that will probably make the reader want to pick up one of the former Veep's own books. If you do not like him, there is enough there to draw up for reasons not to have him assume the highest office in the land, while still respecting him.

In short, this is a very accessible book, and likely will please anyone from any political background, who wishes to know more about this individual.

Great book! I have always loved Joe. This book provided
so much information about his entire life. It is not political,
and that's what I loved about it most.
Joe knows pain and suffering. I feel like a President
that knows about hard times will be in a position to know
about our pain in life.

Thank you so much, David Hagan, the publisher, and NetGalley
for this early copy of the book to read and review.

This book is out just in time for the 2020 election. I have never read one of these books about a politician who is running for an office so I was not really sure what to compare it to. The book has to be reviewed in two ways. First the author and next his/her subject. The author has written a very easy to read book. I do not know what age or grade level it has been written for but I would say that just about anyone with a fair amount of reading skills will not have any problems getting through this book in a short period of time. Also, he did not hold back. The author brought out the good and bad of Biden’s political career so it at least appears to be even-handed. There really was not a lot of issues that I wanted him to address but I am not very versed with his career.
As far as the subject matter, being Joe Biden Jr. I have come away with a better understanding of the man, his hardships, his triumphs and his flaws. At the end of the book the author provides the reader with some of Biden’s policies going into this election. One thing that needs to be emphasized is that the President, under normal conditions, can not act on his own. If Biden does become President his goals with be shaped by who has the power in the House and Senate and what his fellow Democrats are willing to go along with. So if he is elected it does not mean that any of those policies will be enacted.
If you want to get what appears to be an honest look into Joe Biden Jr’s life, work and family this book will provide you with just that. There are a lot of books about the other candidate running, most appear to be negative, but not a lot of books on Biden. If you are on the fence give this book a try, but also read one or two books about the other candidate, these might help you make up your mind. Overall, I would recommend this book.

For years, I've followed Joe Biden and very much looked forward to reading this book.
I was not disappointed to understand how a man who's lost two children and his wife over his lifetime, would not be chronically angry at the cards dealt them. Biden exhibits class and compassion as he's leaned on his faith and the strength of those around him to navigate his darkest moments.
Mr. Hagan's writing eloquently tells of Mr. Biden's personal and professional journeys, the friends he's made, the bi-partisan bills he's worked on and pushed through, as well as his commitment to making the world a better place for not only his family but for all of us.
I appreciated the focus on Biden and not an him vs GOP/Trump platform.
Very much enjoyed the read.

I wanted a book that provided more information on this man and that is exactly what I got.
This is well written and gave a full look at the lifetime ups and downs of Joe Biden. A man with resilience beyond belief. He is a man who has been repeated knocked down, yet continues to stand back up with his head held high.
Enjoyable read that covers the tragedies and his successes of his life.
I felt the book was written with an honest view and did not make any attempt to sway the reader. A smooth easy read that many will appreciate.
