A really useful guide to ageing, which uses affirmations to encourage positive thinking and explores age bias, nutrition and other areas, to contribute to our knowledge of ageing. I found it incredibly interesting and would not hesitate to recommend the book to readers concerned with issues where ageing is involved. There is a lot of wisdom in this book.

This was a really good book for someone like me, who at 59, is retiring soon. I often fear old age and health/mental issues, such as dementia. This book shed a positive light on these issues, and the affirmations helped alleviate some of my anxiety over aging. I will continue to refer to this book as my I start this exciting new chapter in my life.

As a 63 year old retired woman this book is exactly what I needed to read. It is a book I need to share and explore with my mother, my book club and my friends. This book is jammed packed with information and resources. I have read or started to read in numerous other books about aging gracefully. I passively took in how important it is to live a healthy life - eat well, stay in shape and think positive BUT that is where it ended. I gained the knowledge but not the tools to live my best life. Amaging (TM) Growing Old on Purpose on the other hand gave me those tools and showed me HOW to begin. Margie Hackbarth convinced me that affirmations were more than words. Her book includes a versatile outline and shows examples in each chapter of how it to use affirmations to handle loneliness, fitness, nutrition and spirituality. Throughout the book she points out a wide range of studies that have been done in the area of "Growing Old on Purpose. " . Not only does she provide access to her own website for updates and free resources but she also provides an extensive list of the many diverse ,experts she learned from in gathering wisdom through her lifetime forthis book. The American Diabetes Society, Brene Brown , J.N. Crocker ( The value of writing down your thoughts and goals. ) , T. Franke (The Secrets of Highly Active Adults), "The Little Engine that Could", Mayo Clinic, Neff and William Morrow "Self Compassion: the Proven Power of Being kind to Yourself", Qualls ( What Social Relationships can do for Health), SNL (Saturday Night Live) , Navy Seal Training, "Why change is so hard" from the Scientific American. This list could go on for a long time. I urge you to pick up the book for yourself and go down the rabbit hole of research. Find what works for you and begin living your best life.
