Description

How do you find a killer who has destroyed all the evidence?

Detective Erika Foster is on a late-night walk near her new house in Blackheath when she stumbles upon the brutal murder of Vicky Clarke, a true-crime podcaster.

Erika is assigned to the case and discovers that Vicky had been working on a new podcast episode about a sexual predator who preys on young female students around South London, staking out his victims in their halls of residence before breaking in at the dead of night. When Erika discovers that Vicky's notes and sound recordings were stolen from her flat at the time of her murder, it leads her to believe that Vicky was close to unmasking the attacker, and she was killed to guarantee her silence.

The case takes on a disturbing twist when the body of a young Bulgarian student doctor is discovered in the same building, and this makes Erika question everything she thought she knew about Vicky. With very little evidence, the clock is ticking to find the killer before he strikes again.

The wait is finally over and Erika Foster is finally back! I cannot begin to tell you how excited I was to catch up with her.  She first made an appearance back in 2016 when The Girl in the Ice was published.....6 years ago!
Now she is back in Fatal Witness. Another exciting page turner. Grabbing you from the very first page, I devoured this in one sitting! I literally couldn't tear myself away. It is so incredibly good. Bryndza certainly hasn't lost his touch.
You guys are going to love it.

Omg, this is the best Erika Foster plot yet, couldn't put it down, i love the way everything just gels together, if you love police procedural and fantastic character's then this is for you.

I love the way the author gets into the action straight away, that is to say, the murder. Then the plot thickens when Erika gets involved. A police based crime novel that keeps you reading because you want to find out who did the murder. Totally gripping, I recommend it highly. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for giving me a copy of the book.

When Detective chief inspector Erika Foster hears screaming coming from the house she’s passing, she is immediately, instinctively in work mode. When the lady on the inside of the house tells her she’s just found her sister dead in her apartment Erika calls it in.

Erika and her team then have a job to work out what happened to the young woman’s sister and how she came to be so brutally murdered. As the results of DNA and the forensics start to come in, things become clearer and as well as a murder it seems there is a missing person who needs finding that can answer the questions the police need answering.

Will Erika and her team be able to solve the murder before anyone else gets hurt?

As soon as I saw this book I had to read it. Being a huge fan of the authors work and having read the previous Erika Foster books for me it was a must read. So when I got it I dropped everything and read it immediately.

As always with these books I was hooked from the first page. It is fast paced with things constantly moving forward with plenty of twists in the storyline to keeper you hooked. I love Erika’s character, she’s a tough cookie but fair in her work with a quite well hidden softer side.

If you love a good detective murder mystery you should 100% read these books. They are some of my favourites.

I give this Book 1,000,000 Stars! SO happy to have another DCI Erika Foster book to read. A long time coming but worth the wait. I love this series and the characters. This book is outstanding. I can’t rave enough about it. Erika is on a walk when she hears a scream. A podcast writer has been murdered. The evidence is very scarce. I did not guess who was doing the killing. Mr. Bryndza is at the top of his game with this book. I truly hope we don’t have to wait a long time for Book #8. Thanks to NetGalley, Raven Street Publishing and the Author for allowing me to read and review this book.

Oh, Erika Foster how I’ve missed you. It’s been four long years, but finally you're back, with your no nonsense approach to solving the most horrifying crimes. Fatal Witness is the seventh book in a not too be missed series, and it may have been a long wait, but my god it’s been worth it, this one’s a cracker! The book opens with a chilling prologue, and from there on in I was well and truly hooked.

Erika is assigned to the brutal murder of Vicky Clarke, a true-crime podcaster. Prior to her death, she had been working on a new podcast episode about a serial rapist who preys on young female students staking out his victims in their halls of residence. Was Vicky killed because she was close to unmasking the attacker? Who is the deviant predator? What’s their motive? So many tantalising questions to keep us amateur detectives throughly entertained. Unsettling and disturbing, the actions of the all too human characters ensure the tension never waivers.

As in all novels in this series, it’s held together by the unflappable character of Erika Foster, who happens to be one of my favourite fictional crime detectives. Erika is believable, flawed, courageous and dedicated to her job. I was concerned that after such a long break I wouldn’t feel the same about this series, but if anything it reminded me of all the reasons, it’s one of my favourite crime series to read. Robert Bryndza is one of my all time ‘go to’ crime authors for a very good reason, his writing is sharp and to the point, his plots are well developed and veer towards the macabre. His books never feel repetitive or stale and they always make for an exciting, heart pounding read. Highly recommended.

Thank you NetGalley and Raven Street Publishing for the copy of Fatal Witness. I read and loved the Kate Marshall books but this was my first Erika Foster book, number seven in the series. I’m going to read the first six now because this was a great book. Erika is a really good character. She is so real, smart, tough and independent, and I love “hearing” what she would say if she could. Probably because it’s what I would want to say too! I enjoyed hearing about the other characters and their lives, even though some things were kind of shocking to me. The story was so interesting, and I had no clue who was responsible until it was revealed in the end. The writing was as outstanding as I expected. I loved how words weren’t wasted on unnecessary descriptions, and one point incidents that ha[pedned over a period of a couple of weeks were summed up in one sentence. This made the book even more of a pleasure to read. If you’re looking for a good series, I highly recommend this one. You won’t be disappointed!

Another winner from this incredibly talented author. Readers who know and love Erika will enjoy spending time with her again as she skates dangerously close to the edge in her efforts to solve two murders. I loved the insights into the decidedly non-glamorous aspects of life in the police force as well as seeing Erika let down her guard a bit and accept help. She is a strong character and not always very likeable, and I think she is all the more real because of it.

Another masterpiece from Robert Bryndza, and Erika Foster is back with a bang! Erika is my favourite heroine and after a break she is back with a thrilling new case, new house and possibly a new boyfriend! The story is original and captivating, I had to finish reading in a day.

Oh my goodness, I absolutely and totally loved this book.
Outstanding and compelling, it gave me whiplash from all the twists and turns.
The story was extremely well written.
So suspenseful with many plot twists from start to finish.

Fatal Witness is a very satisfying story that I couldn't help but sit down and simply read, read and read some more!

The long awaited return of Erika Foster is here and I am so happy to have her back. 4 years we have been waiting for this book and I was absolutely thrilled to be approved for an early copy. I dropped everything and dove straight in... and I am not at all sorry!

Ever since The Girl in the Ice, Erika has been one of my favourite characters. She is strong, determined and she really cares about her work and the victims. Her team of Moss and Issac - brilliant. I love how they bounce off and support each other.

In Fatal Witness, Erika stumbles upon a murder scene on a walk in her new neighbourhood. A wannabe true crime podcaster has been brutally murdered in her apartment. Finding out what she was working on and who her connections were proves difficult for the team. As they dig deeper and deeper it appears things are not as they seem. And then there is another body in the apeartment block.

Bravo Robert Bryndza and thank you so much for bringing Erika back. Easily all the stars. Thank you Raven Street Publishing and Netgalley for my advanced copy. Published July 7th.

I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
I have followed the Erika Foster books from the beginning.
This book could easily be read as a standalone.
I like the way this author writes. It is an easy read that captures your attention from the beginning and keeps you guessing to the end. Some of the characters are, of course, familiar and the new ones are interesting and diverse. The plot, as usual, is a good one and gives the twists and turns we all enjoy.
I would recommend this one

Another great novel by Robert Bryndza - well written as always and another excellent storyline. Erika and her team take on a sexual predator. The novel is full of twists and turns and finding the predator proves difficult as false leads and dubious people hinder the investigation. Highly recommended novel to all mystery, thriller readers and deserves a very well earnt five (5) stars.

Five superb stars for the next instalment in the Erika Foster series. The story starts with a bang and takes us on the usual roller coaster ride of red herrings and clues until the final reveal. One of my absolutely favourite authors . Can’t wait for the next instalment.

Robert Bryndza is a master of the crime thriller genre, and he proves so with his latest book, Fatal Witness.
I had never read one of his books before getting an ARC of this one through #NetGalley, but Bryndza is so skilled a writer that this book easily stands on its own, drawing the new reader in with complex characters who are easy to care about and a twisted mystery that keeps you guessing all the way through.
From the opening that wallops you with a shocking and brutal murder to the twists and turns of a fast-paced investigation and the grand finale that reveals the killer in a shocking fashion, there is not a moment when the author lets up, much like his main character. I am cautious about saying more because I don't want to accidentally include spoilers. Everyone needs to experience this thrill ride without any accidental disclosures.
This will likely be the thriller of the summer, and you cannot go wrong reading it as #ErikaFosterReturns.

An extremely well written mystery which will keep you guessing until the end. I liked the police characters, one could visualize them and their personalities, especially Erika, the main detective. Two murders, the first a young lady who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The second was deliberate as she was getting close to solving a long forgotten crime. If you like a good mystery this is it, I recommend it.

Very clever police procedural; tense, thrilling and with lots of red herrings. The pacing is perfect and the characters are really good, especially Cilla, who I can picture in vivid colour. I loved the little extras in this book, like the stray cat and the scene in the bed showroom. Highly recommended.

Although this is the seventh book in the series it is a good standalone.I have read some of the previous books so I was looking forward to reading this new book and I wasn't disappointed. This is a brilliant Police Procedural set in London with excellent characters.I very much like Erika who is trying to move on after her husbands murder.A young girl has been murdered but that is only the start of this fastpaced ,action packed gripping story .It is one of those hard to put down books which I love ,the story twisted and turned and I didn't gues who the murderer was so it was a surprise for me the ending .Looking forward to reading the next book in the series .Thank you to NetGalley for my ARC .

Erika Foster is back!!
I really couldn’t wait to get started with this one.
What a great plot. Very clever, easy to read and a true page-turner.
Right from the off the tension was there for me and I was hooked in again by this fab author. The opening chapter was Oh. My. Gosh!
Erika has literally just moved to a new area and still hasn’t unpacked anything. She chooses to have a takeaway from the chippy round the corner, and when walking home she hears a sickening scream from nearby. Of course, she checks it out and comes across an awful scene. The scream came from a woman who had called to see her sister and found a body.
Erika Foster. I love this woman. She never gives up does she?
It was good to reacquaint with Peterson, Moss and Isaac.
A brilliant story, gripping and thrilling. Some unexpected twists and turns, and some unsavoury and questionable characters. I had suspicions and was wrong at every turn.
I couldn’t stop reading, it’s packed with action.
I’ve recommended Robert Bryndza’s books to everyone. He’s a global superstar!! He’s also very down to earth and always has time to reply to a message.
If you've never read any books by Robert Bryndza....why not?!
Start now! Start with the 'Girl in the Ice'...go on, do it, do it now!! 😊
Thanks to Raven Street Publishing and NetGalley for the review copy in which I give my honest opinion.
