Description

As the only woman coder at her firm, Lark is thrilled to land an account for a huge client. But her dream job quickly becomes a nightmare when she accidentally projects a scandalous (and completely unsolicited) picture from her phone onto the screen during a presentation. Before she can recover, her coworkers jump in to steal the account, leaving Lark jobless and broke.

When a friend suggests text message-based sex work as a stopgap between jobs, Lark is dubious. She's all about sex positivity, but carrying out sexual fantasies - even digitally and anonymously-with complete strangers is daunting. How will she explain how she's earning a living - especially to Toby, her good friend and long-time unrequited crush?

Still, she needs the money, and after a few (embarrassing and hilarious) attempts, she actually starts to like sexting - especially with one particularly charming and nerdy client who keeps popping up in her DMs. But as Lark and Toby grow closer, she finds herself with a decision to make: tell Toby she's a sex worker, and try to forget the anonymous client who has her struggling to separate work from real feelings, or keep the secrets that are piling up in her inbox.

As the only woman coder at her firm, Lark is thrilled to land an account for a huge client. But her dream job quickly becomes a nightmare when she accidentally projects a scandalous (and completely...

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing this eARC.
I have to say that I enjoyed reading this book. I loved the nerdy references in this book, especially the Firefly one. The writing was good and fast-paced. Our MC Lark is a nerdy girl who's working as a coder. But then she's accidentally projecting the unwanted picture of a guy's dick onto a screen. And then loses her job. So she has to find a new one and her friend suggests sexting. Lark follows her advice and suddenly has to figure out how to sext. While also trying to find out what she really feels for her other best friend Toby.

Book Review 📚

Text Appeal by Amber Roberts - 3.5/5 ⭐

A slow burn romance with friends-to-loves kind of vibes. Story follows a woman who loses her job and starts a side hussle (no spoilers) to earn some extra cash. I won't lie - the cover alone sold me on the book, I'm a very "judge a book by a cover" kind of person. I do it way to often but if I like it, I want it 😂

Firstly, there's a great dynamic between the group of friends and they're honestly all fantastic, they really made the story what it is. I actually prefered the friends relationships over the "boyfriends" relationship. It's the kind of friendships you can only hope to have one day! I think Amber done an amazing job in portraying Lark - she's a likable character and very well rounded. Everything within the story just kind of fits and makes sense? There's nothing that feels pushed or even put of place.

Although I haven't given it 4 stars I would still say it's a good book and definitely worth the buy if you enjoy a slow burn romance 💒

Thank you to NetGalley and Dialogue Books for allowing me to read this ARC - this is an HONEST review from my own personal opinion.
