Gaining financial independence by renting vacation homes is nothing new. In 1995, VRBO was founded by David Clouse, who rented his Colorado Rocky Mountain condo to vacationers.

Currently, in the United States, there are over 2 million property listings on Airbnb. This is not surprising since there are some significant benefits beyond the possibility of replacing your income from your 9-5 job.

At the top of the list is having a vacation home where you can get away and relax that practically pays for itself.

Also on the list of benefits are equity appreciation and tax deductions. Real estate increases in value over time. You could make a profit on the property when you sell it or use the equity to finance your next property.

Although I'm not currently in a position to benefit from the advice in this book, I hope to be able to do so in the future. I was curious about what short-term renters should be doing and this book had a lot of really good information.

I'll be sure to keep this on my bookshelf for when I actively need it.
