Description

In the last two decades, Free Market Economy and Democracy came to the brink of collapse. These systems will continue to stand at the edge of the hill unless their fundamental flaw is dealt with. Unfortunately, while the issues of secondary importance are freely discussed, it is a taboo to mention the elephant in the room: the social intellect threshold for the society for the proper functioning of Free Market Economy and Democracy is rising every passing day, while the Social Intellect of the society is not.

The freedom to choose does not have much of a meaning if the society does not have the ability to choose. When the society gets naive enough to be manipulated to make choices that transfer economic and political power to concentrated interest groups who serve their own interests at the expense of the society, Free Market Economy and Democracy fail to serve their functions.

Losing Social Intellect analyses why Social Intellect is weakening, how this shakes the foundations of the western social order, and what can be done to cure these troubles before the western economic and political systems are ruined.

THE SERIES

Losing Social Intellect is the first book of the series Fundamental Awareness in Economics and Politics.

Free Market Economy and Democracy came to the brink of collapse for the failure of their vital principles which either became inadequate in today’s complex environment, or worse, are deliberately misapplied in practice. These economic and political systems, therefore, can not survive unless their current structural problems are dealt with, and difficult but realistic solutions are implemented. Unfortunately, societies still fail to see the forest for the trees, and are wasting precious time by focusing on secondary issues.

This series aims to develop a fundamental awareness on the primary issues that need to be well recognized and well analysed, so that the required structural changes can be decisively put into practice before it is too late.

The series, planned to span six books, will soon continue with the books Competition and Cheating, and Inequality and Democracy.

Featured Reviews

This is the first book in a planned series of six on Fundamental Awareness in Economics and Politics. The book is very good, although I will caution it is not for the casual reader. It's informative. It's thorough. It encourages the reader to think deeply and seriously about the subject. It will either shift your perspective on social intellect or widen your understanding of it. It is only when we recognize and correctly analyze that we can choose the best-suited solutions to problems. This book does just that - it thoroughly and expertly analyzes the contributing factors of weakening social intellect and explores solutions to prevent the further weakening of it. I highly recommend this book to curious readers, bibliophiles of nonfiction and politics, and readers who seek to better understand what is happening to society. I also recommend this book to book clubs because it lends itself to great discussion and debate. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.

Honestly, I was expecting more from this book. Or, at least something else. Or, it could be a me problem and I just wanted a relatable read that confirmed and affirmed my feeling of the world’s general population getting dumber by the day.
Other than my expectations, it was good. It’s well written, it’s well structured, and yes, it does touch those subjects I was hoping to see there, albeit not from my standpoint, but the point is there nonetheless.
