Imagine lacking something that everyone else has.
Something that proves you belong to this world. Something so vital that without it, you are nothing. A plague. A myth. A human.
Fifteen winters old, Hirka learns that she is an Odin's child—a tailless rot from another world. Despised. Dreaded. Hunted. She no longer knows who she is, and someone wants to kill her to keep it a secret. But there are worse things than humans, and Hirka is not the only creature to have broken through the gates…
Odin's Child is a unique fantasy with Norse roots, written by "Norway's Fantasy Queen," Siri Pettersen. An epic clash of xenophobia, blind faith, and the right or will to lead. The first in a trilogy, Odin's Child is a thrilling modern fantasy epic.

At the age of fifteen Hirka discovers she is Odin’s Child which explains why she has no tail. She is to be feared if discovered as she can bring The Blind into the realm and that means death. Brilliant book one of the Raven Rings trilogy.
Very well written and narrated novel (I listened to the audiobook). Great strong characters with depth. Loved the personalities in this well paced
, action packed fantasy novel. A thrilling book, full of action, adventure, fights, ravens, faith, leadership and fear for the future. Highly recommend.
This is such a unique trilogy and I was so excited to see audiobook releases!! Imagine being the only one without a tail...

Thoroughly immersive, absolutely timeless gem of a fantasy novel. My only wish is I could have found this book sooner!
I’m not surprised to read that Siri Peterson is “Norway’s Fantasy Queen” her world building is impeccable. Full of Ancient Norse influence Odin’s Child feels familiar with a totally fresh spin.
Siobhan Waring brought the book alive with her immersive narration.
Thanks to NetGalley for the audio arc

I am so thankful that the Raven rings books have been translated into English! I had never heard of this author or the series before. I’m a big fan of Norse. Mythology and Norse inspired storytelling which is how I found this series.
Siri Pettersen is known as the queen of fantasy and the title is absolutely earned. The beginning of the book was a little difficult for me. The author just dropped you in the middle of the world and only reveals things in time. At first, I wasn’t entirely sure if I enjoyed that, but I decided that with the pacing and the little nuggets that she revealed every so often it kept me intrigued. Although for some people, this might be a dealbreaker.
I found most of the characters to be charming and intriguing. The only character I wasn’t really sold on was Rime. He was an edge lord/emo character who was in his feelings a lot. I can understand that he’s been through quite a bit, but his level of maturity and decision-making versus Hirka’s , was astonishing to me. I still enjoyed their romance though, and I look forward to seeing how it develops later.
Also, while the written portion of the book is wonderful, the audio performance was a delight to listen to. Siobhan Waring is a masterful voice narrator. Each of the characters was distinct and had their own little inflections that she added that made the whole story much more rich. I’m so thankful to have been given the opportunity to listen to the first book of the Raven rings, and I am definitely going to be continuing the series. Highly recommend this book to people who enjoy fantasy and adventure.
