A masterpiece of compassion, information and artwork.
Tackling serious and complex topics about relationships (platonic/ romantic, family and with yourself) this book made sure to keep a light edge to it's work with the artwork and choice to demonstrate it all with humanoid animals.
I loved the idea to use the 'Animal kingdom' in the story.
So many situations were displayed and talked about that lead to the core of exploration, boundaries and knowing what is and isn't okay.
Thank you to Oni Press for this ARC in exchange for my honest review!!
This was a cute little graphic novel about how to maintain positive relationships in your life. It explains when to let people go and how to apologize and recognize when you’re in the wrong. I can always appreciate learning about who to be a better friend to others and to myself.
This book will no doubt help some see the ebb and flow of relationships. It sheds light on how friendships and love are not always cut and dry and they go through changes. It covers sensitive topics about sexuality, family, and abusive relationships in a manner that is respectful and not too detailed for shock value. This alone will put it in the hands of all kinds of people and Young adults and adults alike will take something from this book. When I first got this book I didnt know it was comic style and was pleasantly surprised the art work was very calming. I could tell a lot of thought is put into the scenes that are created with drawings.

Thank you for the Arc Netgalley!
I think this is a very important topic, has always been and will always be. It was greatly shown how important it is to understand the situations, be aware of yourself and also conflicts if they occur, how to navigate relationships. Because not always is everything going great and healthy, so admitting that is the first step.
Also the illustrations and explanations were so good!
I think this would be an amazing book for older kids/young teenagers (like 12/13). It’ll help them understanding identities, how to function in relationships, hold people accountable and walk away from toxic and abusive relationships. I love this so much and will definitely be giving to my kid when older.
Thank you so much.

This was great! The illustrations were done so well-along with the messaging. I think this would be great for any age middle school and up. It was quick, diverse, and to the point.
Thank you NetGalley & Oni Press!
Succinct and presented in a cute and friendly style! I can't help but think of how useful this might be for folks who are feeling a little socially out of step post lockdown, or could use a hand with navigating new social situations. It can be hard to see outside of a difficult relationship when you are in one (romantic or platonic!) and this book could be just the thing for easily digestible perspective.
True to its title, this graphic novel breaks down healthy relationships in multiple domains (e.g., friendships, family, romantic partners, work) and helps readers understand the differences between healthy communication and abuse. There are tips to help individuals recognize and navigate relationships that may be becoming more toxic or have already crossed into abusive territory.
I think this is a must-read for anyone, but especially for teenagers and young adults who are new to all types of relationships and don’t have the experience yet to know what is healthy and what is not. Oftentimes, toxic relationships can feel normal because many of us lack a healthy example to compare them to.
I will say that I think that the definition for pansexual in the book was not how I would define it personally, but close enough that it’s not offensive or anything.
The author made relationship information accessible in this short graphic novel. Middle and high school teachers should definitely consider it for their classrooms and/or school libraries. I feel like this is something I could recommend to my clients, as a therapist-in-training, for anyone who may have questions about their relationships.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
This is a fantastic little book full of wisdom. In an ever-increasing society full of animosity and anger, this book can bring a perspective to not let the downers bring you down. Through self-evaluation and guidance from this book, we can set examples of a healthier and happier lifestyle.
On top of the fabulous knowledge in this book, the artwork is eye-catching and fun! It is in soft colors of blues, purples and pinks, that give a serene and calming effect while reading.
This would make a great book to put into upper level schools across the world!

Thank you to Oni Press and NetGalley for an ARC of this graphic novel for my honest review!
I thoroughly enjoyed this graphic novel. I sat down to just read a few pages at first and found myself reading the whole novel in one sitting as it is a quick, easy and interesting read. While the illustrations were cute and adorable, it talked about different types of relationships and very important and necessary topics like abuse, sexuality, communication, forgiveness, etc. A lot that the author is trying to teach or remind you is very beneficial to everyday life and to your relationships and connections you experience. I thought that it gave a lot of perspective on different topics and you can tell the author is filled with major knowledge.
I found myself having better insight on communication and relationships after reading this literal quick and easy graphic novel and am very glad I got to read it. I highly recommend this book if you're looking for more knowledge or reminders on healthy communication and relationships in general.
So the reason I wanted to read this is because one: it is from one of my favourite graphic novel publishers Oni Press, but two: I feel like everyone could always use as much information as possible when it comes to healthy relationships, and even at the ripe old age of 31, that includes me too. Friends, I am so happy that I applied for this one and got it. The art in this graphic novel is beautiful, I loved the artist's colour palette as well as their use of anthropomorphism to show the different humans and helping them look more unique! In my personal opinion, this comic is so GOOD, and so IMPORTANT especially for younger readers who might not know what healthy relationships are, not just in the form of romance, but in friendships, families and in the workplace etc etc. Even at 31, there were things that I learned that I did not know before. I loved that each type of relationship was formed into categories and what would be considered healthy within that category whilst also showing if you wouldn't accept it in one type of relationship, you shouldn't accept it in the other. I read this in one sitting and loved every minute of reading it. Not only was the learning fun but the diversity within this book was beautiful (I almost cried because there was a wheelchair user depicted as a panda, which if you didn't know is my favourite animal). I genuinely believe whether you're 15 or 50 this book is suitable for people of all ages, and is 100% something that everyone should read at least once. I will definitely be looking at the other books in the series and I will be picking a physical copy of this one when it is out.

Rose-Marie's guide was wonderfully written, with concise information delivered in a decisive manner alongside cute illustrations that tell their own story. The use of anthropomorphic animals allowed for great highlighting of different cultures and communities while ensuring the heavier parts of the writing still fit with the mood curated by the light color palette and illustrative style.
A wonderfully done book. This Quick and Easy Guide covers every kind of relationship you would normally encounter from romantic and family to even work and community relationships. It explains how to handle each and how to spot mistreatment in each, in a clear and concise way.
The latest in the Quick and Easy graphic novel series, this short book offers an overview of what healthy relationships might look like, exploring self-care, family, friendships, romantic relationships, people you work with, and more. It emphasizes the importance of community and good communication and briefly touches on what some red flags might look like.
There's not much in this book that I didn't already know, but I can admit it's taken me a lot of years to get to a place where I understand and can live out some of these important ideas. This graphic novel is ideal for middle school and teenage readers who are trying to find ways to navigate a lot of tricky relationships. If a young person can understand and embody all the themes in this book, they'll be well on their way to finding belonging and safety in a wild world.
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for this ARC. All opinions are my own.
This is a short, informative and well-illustrated graphic novel about healthy relationships, from romantic/sexual relationships to friendships and relationships with your community. I enjoyed how inclusive the graphic novel was of polyamorous relationships, asexual identities, etc. and I also love the assertion that non-romantic relationships are just as important to our wellbeing as romantic ones. I'll definitely be adding this to my library's YA non-fiction graphic novel section. Thank you for the opportunity to read the ARC!
This was a really positive read. It gave lots of advice and guidance on healthy relationships and I think the most crucial piece of advice was to have boundaries and communicate them. I loved the colour them and the illustrations which added a lot of charm to the book. Overall a lovely read.
This book is exactly what I needed right now- and what a lot of people need! After the pandemic, a lot of people I know have been struggling with maintaining relationships, myself included. This book puts it in a way that is easy to understand, with such adorable art to guide you along. Despite being animals, the characters in this book remind me a lot of real people I would see in my community- even ethnicities and other identities are communicated clearly in such simple character designs! I will definitely be buying this book for myself, and can see myself reading through it again and again as a reminder of what I need to work on.

This is such a good read for middle grade and teens. It helps navigate life relationships like setting boundaries, healthy communications, and spotting read flags. As a 31 year old, I still struggle with boundaries, so seeing tips and helpful conversation starters to help lead those hard talks. I recommended it to our counselors as well as it hits a lot of things they talk to our teens about.
As a therapist I feel this book has the potential to be used in session as supplemental material when working with tweens and teens. The information is presented in such a way that it is engaging and informative, and it leaves room for further inquiry and discussion.

Thank you to Netgalley and Oni Press for this ARC! I really enjoyed reading this book! I found it quite informative and fun to read! It truly explained and described everything having to do with relationships and made it easy to enjoy reading about potentially upsetting and hard topics! The colouring and drawings were also so lovely! I am so excited to order this into my store!
Beautifully illustrated and easy to follow along with, this book is a must-read for all ages. It provides a window into the way that we as humans interact and connect, providing invaluable information that can be utilized in every kind of relationship.

This was a super cute and informative read. I definitely think it would be beneficial for a lot of young people, perhaps a little bit older than the group that I teach. I think having animals as the characters driving the narrative was an interesting choice that I really ended up appreciating. Not all of the relationships displayed are healthy, and could be potentially triggering to some, so the more cartoon-ish vibe could ease that for people I feel.

A wonderful, heartwarming comic book that everyone should read!
With simplicity, gentleness and pedagogy, Mariah-Rose Marie tackles important (yet basic) themes that are sometimes neglected, such as relationships, communication, boundaries and conflict. All this while including the diversity of people, whether they are disabled, neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, etc., represented by a wide variety of animals.
I liked the way things were presented, such as the idea that conflict is part of communication and is not necessarily negative or toxic.
I was also very happy to see asexuality discussed. And the colour palette and drawings were really nice and appealing!
It made me want to read other guides in the collection.

This book should be a pre-requisite for all humans who plan on existing around others. It was easy to understand and explained things in a way that was intended to help people inform and understand their behaviors and those of people around them. This book is absolutely necessary even for people who think they are a pro at healthy relationships. The graphics were cute and for sure could be used for guiding tweens and teens as well. My only critique is that in the section regarding workplace relationships, it seems very easy to simply tell someone to leave a toxic work situation or report something to HR or protest, but that's not always an option. I think simply adding that if you're in a work or life situation where you can't leave your job or can't file a complaint you can do x, y, z to try and make the best of your situation. Otherwise, I really think this book is amazing.
Trigger Warnings: Mentions of abuse, unhealthy or toxic relationship behaviors.
A Quick & Easy Guide to Healthy Relationships by Mariah-Rose Marie truly lives up to its title: a quick, easy, and engaging read that delivers valuable insights about how we treat others and how we deserve to be treated in return. As someone who is neurodivergent, I found myself recognizing lessons I had learned the hard way over the years. I genuinely wish a resource like this had existed when I was growing up. The approachable tone, cheerful art, and inclusive representation make it suitable for readers of many ages, from teens to adults.
The writing style is accessible and kind, offering gentle but clear guidance on topics like setting boundaries, communicating needs, and recognizing unhealthy patterns. The use of anthropomorphic animals was a delightful choice, effectively illustrating emotional nuance and diversity while keeping the content engaging. I especially appreciated how the book acknowledged childhood abuse and modeled healthier frameworks for connection. While the content is necessarily high-level given the short format, the advice it offers is grounded, practical, and compassionate.
This guide is both cute and wholesome, with bright illustrations that make serious subjects approachable without minimizing their importance. It’s an excellent starting point for readers who may be exploring what healthy relationships look like for the first time, or for neurodivergent individuals who want a clear and visually engaging reminder of key principles.
A Quick & Easy Guide to Healthy Relationships is a book I’d recommend wholeheartedly to anyone, especially younger readers and those still learning about emotional boundaries and mutual respect.
Very cutely illustrated, and it does feel like a guide to healthy relationships. I think the way that different topics were approached was well structured, and concise. There were examples as well as short "definitions". I'm not sure what else I could say besides the fact that I wish more people would not only be aware of most things mentioned in this book, but would also try to act accordingly... There are some parts I will share with some people I know to hopefully enlighten them!!

A Quick & Easy Guide to Healthy Relationships is exactly what its title promises: accessible, engaging, and genuinely helpful. I really appreciated how Mariah-Rose Marie breaks down complex emotional concepts into simple, compassionate language without ever sounding patronizing. The tone feels warm and reassuring, like having a conversation with a friend who genuinely wants to see you thrive.
The illustrations make the guide especially inviting. They add humor and lightness to topics that can otherwise feel heavy, such as boundary setting, conflict, and emotional vulnerability. What stood out to me most was how inclusive and realistic the advice feels. It acknowledges that healthy relationships do not look the same for everyone and that learning how to communicate and take care of ourselves is an ongoing process.
I finished the book feeling both comforted and empowered. It is the kind of resource I wish I had years ago, one that reminds you that growth and kindness can coexist even in difficult moments. A Quick & Easy Guide to Healthy Relationships is a small but powerful book that anyone could benefit from, no matter where they are on their journey toward stronger connections.

I absolutely adore this book. The art is colorful and eye catching without being overwhelming. The book itself if uncomplicated but comprehensive. A really great book that I'm going to highly recommend.
I absolutely loved this book. From the moment I opened it, I could tell it wasn’t going to be your typical “self-help” read about relationships. It’s short, simple, but surprisingly meaningful, and the illustrations? Honestly, that’s what makes it special. The art brings warmth and emotion to every page, like you’re watching everyday people figure things out in real time.
Mariah-Rose Marie manages to make something as complex as relationships feel approachable. The tone is friendly and relatable, it doesn’t lecture you or overcomplicate ideas. Instead, it walks you through what healthy relationships look and feel like, friendships, romantic connections, family, even co-workers, showing that all of them rely on the same foundations: communication, respect, boundaries, and self-awareness.
What I appreciated most is how the book focuses on balance, taking care of others without neglecting yourself. There’s this gentle reminder throughout that you can’t show up for people if you aren’t taking care of your own mental and emotional health. The book also highlights that setting boundaries isn’t about being distant or selfish, it’s about protecting your peace and creating space for honest connection.
The setting in Sun Heights, with its diverse and multicultural cast, makes it feel real and current. Each character has a different dynamic, friends learning to communicate better, couples navigating trust, people figuring out their own emotional patterns, and that variety made it easy to see myself (and people I know) in the stories.
The illustrations are what tie everything together. They’re expressive, warm, and full of small details that make each scene come alive. You can almost feel the emotions, the awkwardness of a tough conversation, the joy of mutual understanding, or the calm of self-acceptance.
If I had to describe the book in one line, I’d say it’s a soft, visual reminder that healthy relationships aren’t about perfection, they’re about effort, empathy, and honesty.
It’s short enough to read in one sitting, but the lessons linger. Whether you’re trying to understand others better or just figure yourself out a bit more, this book is worth picking up.

This book is exactly what it promises to be - a quick and easy guide to healthy relationships. I work in a high school and am always worried by the number of young people who are in unhealthy relationships (platonic and romantic) but do not recognize the signs. And even when they seem to know things are not good they do not know how to extricate themselves from the relationship. I would love to have copies of this book to hand out to them to help them. Having the book as a graphic novel I think also makes this less intimidating as a read and easier to grasp the concepts being discussed.
Tangible R, Reviewer
A Quick and Easy Guide to Healthy Relationships was informative and diverse book that I think is great for a more mature child (I’d say 7th grade and above). This book is something I suggest be read with adults and discussed. Very inclusive of gender and sexuality types. Relationship types too: work, friends, family, acquaintances. It can be applied to so many different situations. The information was not only informative, some very common sense for sensible people, and presented in a liberal fashion. I am an open minded person so this book was a breath of fresh air, but I can see how some people would have an issue if they are closed minded and restrictive of what they want kids exposed to.
I loved how it states “families are your first relationships and for the foundations for how we from bonds with everyone else in our lives”. It also states no family is perfect. And in relation to work relationships, it states that coworker status does not automatically mean trust and intimacy. Don’t tell a coworker anything you wouldn’t tell anyone else.
Overall, this a great book and is part of a series of books on different topics.
Beautiful artwork and i think younger teens will really relate to this well. Ill be buying a copy to have in my classroom and recommend to my students and encorporate it in some of my Emotional literacy sessions
Cheerful, accessible, and genuinely helpful, A Quick & Easy Guide to Healthy Relationships is a standout resource for anyone looking to improve the way they connect with others. Mariah-Rose Marie combines clear guidance with fun, engaging illustrations to cover friendships, romances, family ties, and work relationships, all while emphasizing self-care and self-awareness. From communicating boundaries to handling difficult conversations, the book provides practical tools for strengthening bonds and navigating conflicts with confidence. Thoughtful, approachable, and visually appealing, this guide makes the often tricky topic of relationships feel understandable, manageable, and even enjoyable.
