This is a really sweet little book. It would make a perfect wedding/anniversary/engagement present. If I wanted to be negative, I'd point out that some of the advice contradicts some of the other suggestions. I don't want to be negative though because I've just finished Shara Grylls' book and am full of love and feeling better about the world.
Cute book that’s a testament to Shara and Bear’s relationship and the people that love them. I really enjoyed the style of the illustrations as well. Paper is a traditional one year wedding anniversary gift and this would be a sweet gift to a couple celebrating their first anniversary.
Bear Grylls is well known to many. This collection is authored by his wife Shara who offers some wisdom for long term relationships.
Some of the advice is offered by those whose names readers will recognize and some is not. For example, there is something from Gordon Ramsay, from Miranda Hart and her husband, and from the Sebag-Montefiores. There are also words from more religious origins like the Bible and Martin Luther. Some are from members of the author’s family.
Some advice is anodyne and some is wise. Some entries are humorous while others are more serious. Some I very much liked, as for example, an Irish blessing and an Apache one.
This book could make a nice gift for someone.
Many thanks to NetGalley and John Murray Press for this title. All opinions are my own.
Shara Grylls, wife of survivalist Bear Grylls, has put together a charming little collection of the wisdom shared with them on their wedding day. The book is made up of short quotes, sayings, and snippets of advice—some heartfelt, others humorous, and even a few contributed by well-known friends who joined their celebration. It’s a light and uplifting read, offering gentle reminders of what keeps a marriage thriving. Whether you’re newly married or decades in, it’s the kind of book you can dip back into for encouragement and a smile.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in return of an honest, unbiased review.
