I have not really come across a book like this before, it is certainly different. Freedom Fries and Cafe Creme by Jocelyne Rapinac is an interesting collection of heart-warming short stories with a mouth-watering emphasis on food.
The stories are very descriptive and as I love detail they suited me well and the writing was more evocative than short stories usually are. I like that every dish featured has a recipe for the reader to make for themselves should they get a craving!
This is a great collection to dip into and is a lovely read for those looking for something a bit different. If you like insights into other people's lives, simple pleasures and delicious food then you are in for a treat.

I don't usually enjoy short stories. It's hard to develop the characters and plot enough to draw me in. I accept this as my flaw, as many people do enjoy short stories.
Well if you do, and you like romance and food...grab this. I enjoyed every single story in here, and each story is followed by recipes relating to the story you just finished. All of the characters care about food and their relationships. Mostly the stories revolve around conversations dealing with both.
I had a lot of fun reading this. Thank you NetGalley and Gallic Books for allowing me to read this for a review.

A new collection of short stories revolving around great cooking. The stories are engaging and each come with several recipes that were mentioned in that chapter. A quick read, and fun for food aficionados.

I enjoy short stories, especially when pressed for time or just want a little reading before bed.
If you are a reader that enjoys reading romance and are a foodue, you'll enjoy this book. I honestly liked every story in this book (especially the fact that each story is followed by a recipe that to the story you just finished). Fun stories about love, food and enjoying company. I totally recommend this cook.

Liked the idea around this book but got about a quarter of a way through and just couldn't connect with the characters - didn't care enough to read on unfortunately. Was quite well written however and the added recipes were a nice touch.

I received this book, from NetGalley and Gallic Books, in exchange for my honest review.
I am not usually captivated by short stories and have a habit of taking a while with an anthology, not so with this one. I read fast and these mini adventures were quick and delicious!! I thought that the writing flowed very well and every character took a small piece of me with them and I them. And the recipes...Love them! The recipes are easy to follow, ranging from easy to make to bit more difficult!
Thank you for the wonderful mini adventures!!

I am not typically a short story fan so this was a change for me. Although I liked many aspects of the book it wasn't a favorite read. Can't quite put my finger on why not. Something about the tone just didn't resonate. I'd be willing to try another read by the author because she seems to have a great deal of potential. I'll keep an eye out for other books!
