The fair weather friend, most people loved her specially the members of her fanclub, but others hate her. And now she is found dead, was it suicide or is she killed?
This story has a lot of POV's but it was fun to read with some unexpected surprises.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this story.

the fair weather friend was just brilliant. im still smiling now when i write about it knowing what ive just had the pleasure of reading. it really was a thrill with a great sense of world building going on that gave me all the feels and therefore all the unease and chills to come.
i was delighted how my own confusion and mistrust played out for this one too. who was i being tricked by Jessie or the characters haha.
Faith Richard's the much loved weather woman goes missing during a break. and doesn't come back. well, that might be hard since she is later
found dead.
we of course then get the story unravelled and told to us by a multiple cast who you also arent sure whether to trust or not.
it seems this little town is not so cosy after all.
the telling and really dark side we as a world have gotten into with parasocial relationships was told really well here which straight away earned it brownie points. its a really NOT ok things that has come about. that in itself could fill a book with its own unease.
each character had their own voice and Jessie wrote them all really well.
Faith was such an interesting character. its so hard when fame swallows a person or persons life up so you are never quite sure whether you can blame fame or the person for what happen and what happens to their adoring(and seemingly not so) audience.
but fame really has taken a much more sinister turn as well as we are learning so much more of that side of it now too with some quite huge events and incident happening to our very really life stars in recent years.
there were many suspects in this. could it really be a fan? was it too easy to go straight to the stalker and their guilt? and what about the very people she works and lives with that are now circling her life?
did anyone really know her? did we just shove the real her to the side when she found a weird fan kind of fame?
i really liked how the behaviour of the stalker was obviously wrong, creepy you could stand out know and say it was odd. but you then also got this from the very people she had in her life from fans to family. it felt sinister in its own way what these people thought of Faith, connected her with etc. and that felt so real to real life i was so impressed.
the grit and reality of the themes Jessie touched upon made this book so much more gripping and hit different and deeply because of that.
the ending was just what i needed and also somehow not as you get the big reveal of course but there is also the very realistic to life knowledge that so many more thing are wrong with this situation and people and somehow that lives on as it does in real life. and i really do wish something was done about in reality too.
i had such a great time with this book. it really did hit on every thriller tick tick tick for me. and then went further because the reality of it felt authentic and therefore you feel more and care more as you go along.

Jessie Garcia has done it again with this new novel set to publish in January 2026. Her ability to breathe life into each character carving out each individual to reveal their flaws and obsessions is simply marvellous.

Set in Detroit, we are introduced to Carol and Jim, a couple who like watching crime shows and solving puzzles. They could be mistaken as the typical busybody neighbours we all have. They are also obsessed with the news station’s meteorologist, the delightful and graceful Faith Richards. In fact, she is so popular that she has a Facebook group whose members purchase her signature earrings. Carol’s niece Olivia has managed to secure an internship at the station, so naturally they are eager to obtain any titbits about her.

One night Faith leaves the station on a dinner break but never returns. Olivia was probably the last person to have seen her as she was given a cryptic note to hand to her colleague. Does the note hold the clues to what happened to Faith and can the mystery surrounding her disappearance be solved by the trio.

As the town wakes up to the news of her disappearance, the list of suspects begins to grow- old university friends and work colleagues all appear to have a motive for wanting her dead. Through multiple perspectives we are treated to the real Faith Richards behind the glossy public persona. There are also the darker undertones of the world of fandom presented which are at best unhealthy. A well written book with plenty of twists and turns with an opportunity for a follow up.

It's always sunny in Detroit for Faith Richards. The popular TV meteorologist, endearingly referred to as "The Fair Weather Friend" by her viewers, has the world by the tail. But one night, Faith leaves work on a dinner break and never returns. Her body is found the next morning. The town is reeling, suspects emerge, and long-buried secrets are uncovered. While her allies rally, her list of adversaries also grows. Little does anyone know that only the deepest secrets will expose the truth! Good book! This book was a bit different to me but a good different! It had suspense, great mystery, murder, intrigue, stalking, and some shocking moments! The story was very interesting! I definitely recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
