✨♥️ Charleston Grit by Stephanie Edwards ♥️✨
I don’t even know how to properly explain how much this book means to me. Charleston Grit is one of those stories that doesn’t just entertain you, it settles into your heart.
Nan (Nancy) absolutely owns this story. She’s strong, but not in a loud, flashy way. Her strength is steady. It’s loyal. It’s protective. When her best friend’s health is at risk and everything starts unraveling, she doesn’t run, she leans in. Even when she’s doubting herself. Even when things feel overwhelming. Watching her navigate the mystery, the danger, and even the presence of a restless spirit while still carrying so much love and responsibility… it just did something to me.
And Julia Catherine? Oh my heart. The loyalty. The depth. The emotional connection between her and Nan is everything. Their bond feels real, not perfect, not polished , but rooted in history and love. The way they show up for each other, even when things are messy, is what makes this story hit so deeply. You can feel that generational strength. That shared grit.
That’s what makes this book so powerful, it isn’t just about suspense or twists (though those are so good). It’s about heart. It’s about women carrying heavy things and still standing. It’s about friendship that refuses to break. It’s about resilience that isn’t pretty, but is real.
Stephanie Edwards writes in a way that makes Charleston feel alive, the stakes feel personal, and the emotions feel raw. I wasn’t just reading, I was invested. I was worried. I was rooting for them. I needed things to be okay.
This book reminded me that grit isn’t loud. Sometimes it’s quiet endurance. Sometimes it’s showing up when you’re exhausted. Sometimes it’s loving people through the hardest seasons.
And Nan and Julia Catherine embody that so beautifully.
I’m still thinking about them. And honestly? I probably will be for a long time. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
Huge thank you to @stephedwardswrites and @netgalley for the ARC!!
