From the author of The Club, a Reese Witherspoon Book Club Pick, Time to Burn is Ellery Lloyd's compelling time travel thriller.
If the past catches up with you, time travel can be murder . . .
London, the present day: commercial time travel is a reality.
Tempus Tours – owned by controversial tech entrepreneur Inigo Frank – offers the wealthy a chance to witness pivotal moments in history.
To immortalise his achievement, Frank enlists award-winning filmmaker Phoebe Hunt to create a fly-on-the-wall documentary. On her first day shadowing Inigo, she is set to witness the return of a billionaire property developer and his family from their trip to the past. But instead of their awe-filled return, she captures the group arriving bloodied and traumatized, with one of their number missing.
Not only that, but Phoebe recognizes the missing woman. She knows not only that she's not who she claims to be, but that the woman has every reason to harbor a grudge against her. And as events begin to unravel in the present day, it seems increasingly clear that the woman had sinister motives for returning to the past – and that people close to Phoebe are in danger.
Can Phoebe stop the ripple effect before she loses everything – and everyone – she holds dear?

Oh, now this is a clever story. Time travel is a fascination for all, and when it goes wrong... well that's when it gets really exciting, isn't it?
In this novel the physics of time travel have been resolved - but the morality is a whole other matter. A man makes himself rich by selling limited trips into the past to billionaires, under the proviso he doesn't stray beyond the parameters placed upon him by the UK government. Can we trust him? Documentary maker Phoebe is invited in to prove that yes, he's a good man. What happens next is gripping - a trip back to London in the Blitz goes spectacularly wrong, and someone is left behind. As Phoebe unravels the story she begins to realise that her whole life is about to change irrevocably - can she twist the end game to ensure her past protects her future?
Brilliantly written characters mean you can't decide who you are rooting for, who is friend and who is foe. The tale twists and turns and maintains a rapid momentum that keeps you gripped until the very end - a most satisfying read.
Speculative fiction is not usually my thing, but I absolutely LOVED this. It pulled me out of a huge reading slump, I looked forward to my commute every day so that I could read more, and I even dreamed about it. It's high concept but so completely believable, and the way the different timelines come together is seamless. I already knew I was a fan of Ellery Lloyd after The Final Act of Juliette Willoughby, but this absolutely cemented it for me. One of my faves of the year so far.

This was a pageturner of a novel that had me reading late into the night.
Tempus tours takes you back to a time in the past. But only for the very rich. It's owner Inigo Frank is a brilliant mathematician who has solved the mystery of time travel. Their latest tour is for billionaire Harry and his family, taking them back to one night of the Blitz. But when the time comes for them to return to the future, one of their party, Sasha, is missing. But is this an accident or has she deliberately stayed in the past.
This is a fascinating exploration of the ethics of time travel and one which I really enjoyed, You do have to suspend disbelief but this is easy enough to do as the story sweeps you up,
