Description

Movement didn’t end, and it surely didn’t stay on stage. It has traveled across generations beyond the studios into the DNA of every dancer today. Before online dance trends, there was Soul Train.

But when the cameras cut, what happened to those who defined an entire generation?

Get On Board! takes you behind the scenes and beyond the spotlight, tracing the lives of the original dancers from Patricia Davis to Don “Campbellock” Campbell, Shabba-Doo Quinones, Sharon Hill, and Tyrone “The Bone” Proctor.

Follow their journeys as they collaborate with legends like The Jackson 5, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, and Diana Ross. Discover the roots of dance styles still seen worldwide today.

Brimming with heart, humor, and history, Get On Board is a celebration of resilience, creativity, and the power of soul.

Love, peace, and soul are just a page away. Grab your seat and join the ride through music, memory, and movement.

This book is unique, fun, and so enjoyable! I’m so glad Stephen McMillan wrote this to tell the audience about the dancers on Soul Train, their inside stories, and their lives after Soul Train. Soul Train would not have been what it was without them.

Get on Board! Is a trip down memory lane that I wasn’t expecting. Having watched the show in the 70’s, after Saturday morning cartoons, this 6 year old would dance and sing and enjoy the show. I vividly remember Don Cornelius but didn’t remember the dancers very well, Each chapter looks at a dancer, going back to how they got started on the show and how they evolved into their current lives. Very well documented and enjoyable to read their accounts. Would recommend this to people that watched the show and people interested in reliving the dance scene of the 70’s and 80’s.
