This was such a fun and cozy small town romance. You could picture being a movie starring like Julia Roberts or something on Netflix. I really enjoyed the characters in the small town setting. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a cozy escapist read that they can get lost in. I hope to read more from this author in the future cause I really enjoyed her work.

Kat has such a gift for writing. and for writing beautifully too. i loved the first book in this series. it scooped me up and plonked me into this community and made sure i never wanted to leave.
Maddy is the runaway bride. or she was. and when she ran she headed to Europe. she hasn't forgotten and neither has her hometown. so when she finds herself going back she fears so much for the judgement she will be met with. shes suffering all of her own and doesn't need the weight of everyone else too. and this isn't helped when she sees her ex has moved from. that hurts. and makes her uncertainties feel massive.
and so in a big to move on or find she cant her and her best friends older brother decide to come to a fake dating arrangement. there is nothing more telling than to make an ex jealous right?
but of course this pretence very quickly turns out to be something so much more for both of them .and this becomes a whole new kind of complimented.
Maddy really had to go on a journey in this one. there was so much of her that had become a role. been trying to be someone that perhaps wasn't herself. shes strives, but what for? to meet who's expectations when so much of those should have been her own. adding in to this and possibly partly because of this is her wavering over leaving her wedding was the right thing to do either. you can feel the weight of her confusion and fear.
Elliot? oh Elliot you certainly stepped into the role you were always meant to be in.i really like his quiet strength. that charm and hmmm im not sure about him and his ways very quickly softened. seeing him want to be something better for Maddy was lovely to witness.his being there but not via force or pressure. just someone who you could tell would stand by her and catch her in ways she needs. an acceptance of who she is feels wonderful but also scary.
the chemistry between the pair made me smile and feel warmed in the heart. it built as it should and felt deeper than just a lust thing. those pensive moments of there being something more going on here was really well written. i as a reader could feel that shift too.
both of our character have their own kind of fears. especially around love and relationships. watching them be different with one another was one of the best progression in the book. maybe they could have forever? maybe it happens when you meet someone you are willing to do that for. learning to commit, learning from their mistakes and not shirking them felt real mature.
another lovely read and just what i needed to bask in the sun with all afternoon.
