As a teacher with an interest in the pastoral side and SEND I was interested in reading this book. Whilst I am not in a leadership role I still thought there would be some relevant information.

It’s well thought out presentation was useful in my finding the most relevant information for me. The chapter on common areas of need (which highlighted, for example, ADHD and Autism) was very useful for all staff. As were the sections detailing approaches (such as UDL). However I imagine this book would be incredibly helpful for all members of SLT to support SEND in school.

Overall an enlightening book that I would recommend.

As a reader and educator who has been reading relatively widely about SEND, I found The School Leader's Guide to SEND to be a breath of fresh air because of its whole-school approach, leadership perspective, and emphasis on practical, diverse, inclusive SEND framework.
The accountability and case studies chapters particularly stood out.
I also liked that it was honest, realistic and still, did not lose on the idealism.

This was super helpful, especially as an ECT. It was written in a way that was easy to read and not boring like many are! Thank you! I really enjoyed this, and would 1000% recommend.
