Description

She ran to protect him. Now she has to stay to save him.

Callum Reid is about to lose everything he's built. Six months from foreclosure, the restaurant he's poured years into is slipping through his fingers.

So when his investors insist on bringing in a consultant, the last person he expects to walk through the door is the woman who disappeared on him five years ago. She hung up her own chef's coat for good, and now she's back to tell him how to run his kitchen.

He let her in once. He's not about to make that mistake again.

Vivienne Lane never expected to end up here. Not in Westerly Point, not at this restaurant, and definitely not face to face with the man she's spent five years trying not to think about. But she's the best in the business, and she's not about to start failing now. Even if staying means facing exactly what she ran from.

The clock is ticking on the restaurant, and the only way to save it means sharing a kitchen. And it doesn't take long for the pull between them to become impossible to ignore again. Except now everything is on the line, a secret is still buried, and there's so much more to lose.

When the truth about why Vivienne left finally surfaces, Callum has to decide if he can risk loving a woman who might walk away again. And Vivienne has to decide if she's finally brave enough to stay. Can they survive a second chance, or will old wounds sink them both?

She ran to protect him. Now she has to stay to save him.

Callum Reid is about to lose everything he's built. Six months from foreclosure, the restaurant he's poured years into is slipping through his...

So, first off this is a great first book - and I AM SO glad that the author will continue this series of Westerly Point.

Vivi and Cal trained at Le Cordon Bleu - and on graduation night they have sex- and Cal wants her to come with him - but Vivi -Vivi gets hurt, and cuts Cal out of her life.

Now she is a restaurant "saver" and back in Cal's life-

We have so much trauma between the two of them, and what happened in the intervening five years - but things work out :)

We have characters that really grow, found family, although Vivi has a wonderful family, found friendships, found town, we get a little bit about the side stories of the other people in town - :)

I can't wait to see what happens between Cal's brother and Sloane, the head of the fishing company in the next book!

This is a great start to what looks like a really charming small-town romance series. It follows Vivienne and Callum, who used to be together but split after a painful misunderstanding. Years later, they meet again, and they both still carry hurt and emotional baggage from the past.

I really enjoyed watching them reconnect. Even after so much time apart, their feelings and chemistry are still there. Their journey is all about forgiveness, healing, and slowly learning to trust each other again. It felt real and emotional, and it was easy to root for them from the moment they meet again. I also loved the setting. Westerly Point feels warm and cozy, with a strong small-town vibe. There were also a few hints about side stories that made me curious about what comes next.

Overall, this is a sweet and emotional romance about second chances, family, healing, and starting over. It has lovable characters, and a cozy small-town setting. If you enjoy second-chance love stories this is definitely worth reading.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for providing a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

4.5/5

I really really enjoyed this book. I loved the individual and joint journeys of the main characters and how through their joint story you got to know the other characters well.

I liked the second chance romance and forced proximity and how they cautiously and carefully explored their connection as the book progressed.

I will definitely be reading the rest of the series, for sure!

If you are looking for your new favorite small town romance series - I have some good news for you! Neap & Spring by K.H. Jones follows Vivienne and Callum, who both work in the restaurant history and have some sizzling (and I'm not talking about a frying pan) history from their distant past. Vivienne is a restaurant consultant who finds themselves in Westerly Point with the task of helping Callum save his restaurant from the chopping block (okay, I promise I'm done with the chef-related puns in this review). As the two work together they are not only trying to save a restaurant, they are trying to save the relationship they once had.

This book is a fabulous debut from author K.H. Jones and I cannot wait to return to Westerly Point for future stories! Vivi and Cal are a great example of a slow burn couple - they feel like real people and are not bogged down with the silly miscommunication you so often see with this trope. Their relationship with each other builds nicely, and I also enjoy the focus on the found family style relationships they build with side characters as well. The descriptions of food in this story are so wonderfully detailed, and my only caution to any future reader is that you make sure you have snacks on hand while reading - because you will be hungry.

This is a healing story, and I am so excited for future books with some of the character's we got to meet (Callum's brother- I'm looking at you!). This book is a second chance romance - but I would recommend picking it up the first chance you get! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC. All opinions shared are my own.

There was something comforting about this story. Watching Callum and Vivienne find their way back to each other while fighting for the future of the restaurant made for an emotional and satisfying read. I liked that their relationship wasn't instantly repaired, and that trust had to be rebuilt little by little.

Westerly Point was a cozy setting that made me want to spend more time there, and the restaurant atmosphere added a fun touch, especially if you enjoy books that revolve around food. At times the pacing felt a little slow, but the heartfelt moments and lovable cast kept me turning the pages.

If you're in the mood for a small-town, second-chance romance with plenty of heart, this is an enjoyable start to the series.

i mean look at that cover. tell me you arent in already? and im so glad to say the contents lived right up to the feeling i had going in. and to see this is the first in a series had me even more overjoyed by the end.
i needed this kind of romance. ive just read a thriller with so many edges to fall off my heart was in my chest! i needed a happy ending.
Westerley point, where can i find you and how do i get there? because this place looked like a place we all want to be.
getting to know Vivienne and Callum was all part of the charm of this read. their story is one filled with heartwarming moments of two people you just know are meant to be. they know it too even if they rent brave enough to decide that just yet when we meet them. they were together once. they were in love. so how did they end up apart? why is it only now years later and with lots of full feelings are they finally in touch again? seeing how they connect once again was lovely. its clear it never left them, what they had. but there has been a lot of pain left behind in the missing years. but i was rooting for them so much. dont break my ow heart now guys!
the smirk i gave when what bought Viv back was to save his restaurant. ooooo i thought this was going to be good. and it s was.
this book has some excellent side characters too. everyone role in this book felt important and each were a highlight especially he was see them interact with our main couple. the found family but also real family elements in this book made my heart feel all mushy. good people like this in your life must be the best thing ever to experience and i feel lucky to get to do so even via this read. K.H Jones writes this so well. like these characters are really cared for by the author too.
i cant wait for what and who comes next.

This story is the perfect debut! It’s got a storyline that’s very unique and intriguing, and ends with a very happy ending. I had a great time reading it, and was hooked from the first few chapters. I love that there was angst, yearning, and second chance romance! I also really enjoyed that everyone was valid for their emotions. Cal was valid to feel hurt and angry that Vivi ghosted him randomly. And Vivi was valid for ghosting him, although a part of me does think she could’ve found a way to let him know about Voss without him ruining his character. I do wish there was a run in with Voss and he could get a taste of his own medicine. I love a little revenge but other than that, this story was an excellent and easy read! Definitely looking forward to future books in this series (I’m looking at you Sloane and Wesley).

Thank you to NetGalley for the arc!

Slow pace at first and the plot is a little slow but let's just say the romance and banter made up for it 100% the MMC is absolutely to die for the way he interacted with the FMC in a way saying "you're mine no one else's" yes please! This book will also make you very hungry I was non stop snacking and I'm hoping for a cookbook inspired book from this because I know I'd purchase in two shakes of a dogs tail! Thank you for the opportunity to read early I absolutely loved it

I adore small town romances. Add in a coastal setting, especially in the summer, and you have me.

Vivi and Callum, my whole heart. We get a glimpse of them in culinary school, but almost the entirety of the book is present day, where they haven't spoken in five years. Vivi is the restaurant consultant sent to help save Callum's place.

I absolutely loved watching their relationship change and evolve over the course of the book. Vivi is clearly carrying some trauma and as much as Callum wants to know what is going on with her, he's so gentle and patient with her. Vivi was hard on herself in a way that was relatable and realistic, especially given what happened to her.

The restaurant setting was such a nice change of pace from what I usually get in small town romances and I enjoyed getting to read some of the intricacies of the kitchen. It felt natural and while it's sometimes easy to get lost in the weeds of a job (especially when they're trying to save a business), this was just enough to keep me interested without it feeling like it was too much.

I would've liked to have seen Vivi's journey just a little bit more at the end. The epilogue is a bit of a time jump, which I do appreciate, but for me, I would've liked just a little more on how she got from where she was at the end of the story to where she is at in the epilogue.

This is a series with four brothers and I will most definitely be coming back to Westerly Point for the next Reid brother to get his HEA.

Loved this one!
I laughed, smiled, and teared up.
The story is complete and the writing is flowy and transportive. I felt completely at home in Westerly Point and love these characters.
I know nothing of restaurant education, kitchens, or running a business but I have nothing to point fingers at. The food sounded amazing and the characters felt genuine and realistic.
The challenge in the story seemed huge, the relationship believably strained, and the love undeniably present. We got backstory, trauma resolution, realistic timelines, and no third act breakup.
I was served my meal in my cozy corner, ate it all and licked the plate.

Excited for book two!

Thank you to K.H. Jones, NetGalley, and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the ARC!

This was a 5 star read for me. The chemistry felt real. As someone that has worked in all kinds of kitchens, the banter was spot on and the stress and pressure of being a woman in a male dominated field was right on the money here. I will be buying this for my libraries once it is out and I highly recommend you get a copy too. 5 Stars.
