This book was not hyped enough! Seeing next to no reviews on goodreads made me sad! I think this book was so fun, the setting in Rome, the protagonist never losing site of herself or what she wants. It's honestly such and quick fun read! I hope more people will pick it up soon!

This book definitely was not what I was expecting, but it worked out for the better. Even though part of the story revolves around Monica discovering what she wants, it was impressive to see her demand and execute her romantic expectations. She's a woman on a mission. Of course, the highlight of this book was the setting! I had a lot of fun exploring Paris and Rome through Monica's eyes. It's a promising debut!

Fabulous! I love that this has an unusual solution to the traditional HEA that fits so harmoniously with the MCs and their wants. It feels like a truly European story - nothing overly saccharin and sanitised here like many romances set on the other side of the pond. We see hurt, sweat, determination and the unglamorous side of living in Rome. I zipped through this and enjoyed every second, it's so refreshing to read something so clearly of the genre but so wonderfully original. Kudos to the author for sticking to the honestly of the characters and not even vaguely being beguiled by a traditional HEA - it feels so much more real as a result. Best thing I've read in a while and got me out of quite a reading slump

the Rome setting and that cover we delicious.
the wit and humour in it felt like it really held actual comedic moments rather than forced banter or drama wit which i really liked.
i really liked how Monica thought she had this relationship stuff figured out. and that she wanted to avoid it. avoid it turning to nothing from the sparkly beginning. i have to admit i wanted to ask her why? whats wrong with lovely,safe, comfort and comforting?
when she meets Alexi she has a rule. it will be no strings summer. it wont lose the sparkle then will it?
her not wanting things to go that way. her wanting for all of everything and not committing made me smile how she quickly saw this changing. can you ever not feel deeper with someone you connect with? will you then want more? when you didn't want more?
it really made me think and i actually liked that. i thought like Monica with this read that it would be light,fun and sorted. but then it became far more for me too! how would we both be at the end of this read?
i really enjoyed this read. i like where it took me and how it made me think and some of the things it made me think about.
id love to read more from this author. her writing style was really fresh as was her take on the genre.

This story did not meet my expectations, but not in a negative way. The book cover led me to assume it would be a light romance with a great setting. But the issues of s&x and romance here are not light or cozy. Thirty-something Monica, a social media manager world rover, still hasn't found what she's looking for (sorry, U2) in the romance department and has decided that the heady days of passion at the start of a relationship cannot last. Therefore she must steer away from relationships. But then she meets fascinating Texan Alexi and their summer together puts her to the test. It's steamy, heady, reflective, occasionally uber intense and ends with a soupçon of hope.

Extra things that upped my reading pleasure:
-Use of lines from familiar, older tunes like Claudio Baglioni's Amore Bello (my all-time favorite Italian ballad), Robert Palmer's Addicted to Love, etc. Guess my age is showing here🙂
-The settings, including a lovely interlude in Paris; and
- Monica's young former Amsterdam roommate adds a bit of whimsy.

On the down side, the story is narrated totally from Monica's perspective. I would have liked some Alexi POV. And Monica is described as half French, half Italian but, somehow, I didn't get that vibe from her.

This is a fun book about Monica and her adventures in life. I liked her travels, how she handled her boyfriends and how she found some happiness. It’s a wonderful story and writing.
I recommend this for anyone who enjoys light fiction.

First off the cover is so cute. I love it! The story was beautiful I enjoyed the setting of Rome is perfect and the writing style made me feel like I was there. This was a quick and easy fun read. I finished it in one sitting.
