Wow—talk about a sizzling romance! This beautifully written novel offers a wonderful, unique twist on a Greek tale that kept me hooked from the very first page. The story flows effortlessly with incredible pacing and lush, descriptive language. I was instantly drawn to the lovable characters and their journey. It is a total page-turner that I devoured in just one day! From start to finish, it is a lovely, deeply enjoyable romantic story. Eva Darcey has a new fan, and I'm eager to dive into the rest of her books. 5 stars! 🎉

Sure this is erotica, and also.... at it's core, this is a brilliant retelling. It is a story about autonomy. It is one about exploration and desire and strength and courage and love.

Bound Maiden tells the "real" story of Daphne and Apollo from her POV. A skilled hunter, she has devoted her life to Artemis. She is fiercely protective of her chastity and has dedicated at least a decade of her young life to serving the goddess. She has been worshipping and praying to be selected as one of her handmaidens.
When a beast starts killing innocents in her town, she sets to hunt and kill it to impress Artemis. However, the cocky, handsome Apollo gets in her way. Daphne's realization that Artemis has not chosen her breaks her down, but also allows her to explore companionship and connection with this handsome god who has completely enamored her; and the other way around. And my goodness- she really gets to explore her love of rope 🪢☀️

About 3/4 of the way through this book, I absolutely had to go back and read the first of the series. With this second story, Eva Darcy has truly found her voice.
From the "erotica" categorization of this book, I was expecting smut with a bit of plot. That's why I picked it up. And yet I find myself so glad that is not what this is.

Also yes, the spice is SPICING 🥵.

But I also loved the characters. They feel full and real. Daphne is strong, witty, and downright fierce. At first Apollo is an asshat, sure. But he grows on you just as her grew on Daphne. Charming, caring, and sexy as hell. It is impressive to write dubcon where there is also very care and respect for boundaries. I was swoooning. And his eventual devotion to her... my god 🔥

The plot is also engaging. The storyline is intruiging and the pacing feels perfect. I couldn't put it down.

Absolutely stunning mythology retelling. I was hooked in becuase of the spirit of the FMC. She was so thoughtfully crafted. This is a read that is as spicy as it is emotional. I had such a wide and deep range of emotions reading this, and truly a perfect reading experience. I will be buying a trophy copy for my bookshelf and revisiting this for the foreseeable future. When I finished reading I was left with goosebumps and full body chills. I truly recommend this read and have been inspired to explore other works by this author.
