I received an advanced reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

This is an easy to read, follow and understand and gives exercises to try after each section. It contains helpful tips and explains many things about sleep, why we need it etc.
I'll be reading through this again much slower and trying out many of the exercises as I do so.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for a free ARC of this ebook. This is a detailed exploration of sleep, it's importance and how to improve your own. It is beautifullyartistically illustrated and it a pleasure to read. I highly recommend it.

I unfortunately don’t sleep well so when I saw this available on Netgalley I thought I would give this book a chance to learn a few techniques.

I’m glad I decided to give it a chance. It’s insightful and easy to read and I’m more than excited to give them a go.

Learn to Sleep well by Chris Idzikowski is a beutifully well written and presented book.

It is full of great advice and exercises to help you learn how to sleep better.

The book is easy to read and hopefully following though on the exercises I will soon be zzzz away in no time.

Counting sheep has often been synonymous with trouble sleeping. A warm of hot milk maybe, read a book (we will come to that bit) or have a hot shower; the realm of advice when it comes to insomnia and nighttime stress is HUGE and 'Learn To Sleep Well' at 160 pages is no different.

A comprehensive and incredibly practical guide, the opening chapter delves straight into the scientific discoveries and history of nocturnal neurosis and how we can all improve our sleep. Regardless of age, creed, colour or culture; this book has tips for everyone! From what we eat/drink/wear to bed, to what time we go to bed, how/where/why we sleep how we do, who we share our bed with to the well-worn aromatherapy advice, meditation, hypnosis, yoga, and even dream catchers.

Nightmares, night terrors, apnea, narcolepsy or insomnia -this book has an abundance of help, information, and advice to help you get a good nights rest. Each section comes with an instructive and practical help guide (20 exercises in total) that can be studied and practised at your convenience. Truly fascinating and well researched, this book keeps you wide-awake and enthralled with information.

Save the sleeping until after you've finished reading it!

Learn to sleep well doesn't cover any new ground in sleep science and practice, but it does provide an excellent primer on the topic for those who are new to the topic and seeking to improve their sleep and sleep hygiene. The version I read was in black and white but I assume it will be printed in color, so it is likely to be a very beautiful book as well.

As someone who struggled with stress and insomnia. this book has really great advice and exercises for sleep problems. Given that sleep is 1/3 of your life, its important to try to get the best sleep as possible.

Learn To Sleep Well is a beautifully presented book, featuring a easy to read layout with some lovely images, which added to the reading experience. I enjoyed that this was set into different sections, each with a few chapters, covering a variety of topics which were split in an accessible way, and made it easy to flit between sections to suit your sleep issue needs. There was a nice selection of topics covered, and it wasn't too long or overwhelming for someone starting to look for ways to improve their sleep.
As someone who has read a lot of books on sleep over the years, as well as doctors advice et c. (long term insomniac) this didn't really bring anything new to the table, but it did have some interesting facts, was easy to read and engaging. I liked the writing style and think this would be a really good starter book for someone who is looking to improve their sleep hygiene, but doesn't have severe insomnia.
There were a couple of bits that I thought would be hard to follow in practice though - keeping a log of exactly when you fell asleep (impossible without clock watching, which you really shouldn't do) and when you wake up in the night (again, hard to do without making a note) are not going to help you shut off your brain and sleep if you're too busy thinking. Also spending an entire day figuring out your circadian rhythm in 15 minute intervals of staring at a cube isn't something most people have time for. Besides these few odd suggestions, it was a quite informative book, despite the fact that I didn't gain much insight, but that is because this is not my first foray into the world of sleep and is no fault of the book.
I would definitely recommend it to someone who has not read much on the subject, as a starter or primer on the subject.

*received for free from netgalley for honest review* This was a GREAT book! tbh I wasn't really expecting it to have so much information, tips, tricks and even recipes (I already knew the hot cinnamon milk thing, but I don't recall they had a name for it, ive always known it to be called Moon Milk so that's fitting lol), If you or someone you know are having trouble sleeping, I think this book has a great chance of helping you fix the problem. would love to own a physical copy.

Oh, how I would love to sleep better!  If the same is true for you, spend a little time with this title; I think that it may help you. 

This book is divided into sections covering Sleep in Perspective, Patterns of Sleep, The Sleep Environment, The Sleeping Body, A Mind for Sleep, and Overcoming Sleep Problems.  Each section includes many short subsections that seemed quite informative.


The book also includes a number of exercises to help further your sleep goals. Some utilize mindfulness techniques; others require things like making a sleep diary.  There are also many suggestions as for example, what kind of bed might be best for an individual.


This title is comprehensive. It may well restate some things that you already know such as the impact of alcohol and caffeine on sleep but there is also much that was new.  Throughout the book is calmly illustrated.


I recommend Learn to Sleep Well  if you would like to think more about your sleep patterns and are on a quest to wake up each day feeling better.

Learning the key to better sleep seems like something every single person would need. In Learn to Sleep Well, Idzikowski takes us through the history of sleep research, techniques for improving your sleep and sleep-space and environmental aspects and disorders that can affect our sleeping habits.

Learn to Sleep Well was a wicked interesting read. The fact that there are still things unknown about the reasoning behind sleep was fascinating and the sense of a timeline that was given during the sleep research history was informative and kind of shocking.

I enjoyed how each sleep difficulty that was discussed, also included an exercise for helping move past the problem. Some of these exercises were as simple as a recipe for warmed milk and some were more difficult tai chi poses. Most everything that was discussed could be considered common sense. If you’re having trouble calming down, take a warm bath or listen to some calming music or sounds. Seems pretty obvious.

There were some aspects that I thought might be a little more difficult to achieve. I’m a fan of the no-clutter lifestyle, so that part isn’t difficult, but having no electronics in your bedroom is unrealistic for me. Also, reading the requirements for having a feng shui bedroom made me realize that I’m violating about 5 of the requirements. Maybe that’s why I sleep so horribly.

Oh well. I really thought that Learn to Sleep Well was an interesting read. Though, I think reading about sleep might be a sedative for me! I found myself yawning way more than I usually do while sitting alone and reading quietly. But maybe that was Idzikowski’s goal!!!
