Description

A world at war. A beautiful young star. A mission no one expected.

'A truly outstanding novel, brilliantly written, that captured me and held me in its grip from page one. The Black Swan of Paris reminds us of the power of love, hope and courage'
Heather Morris, #1 bestselling author of The Tattooist of Auschwitz

Paris, 1944

Celebrated singer Genevieve Dumont is both a star and a smokescreen. An unwilling darling of the Nazis, her position of privilege allows her to go undetected as an ally to the resistance.

When her estranged mother, Lillian de Rocheford, is captured by Nazis, Genevieve is shaken. She knows it won't be long before the Gestapo succeeds in torturing information out of Lillian that will derail the upcoming allied invasion. The resistance movement is tasked with silencing her by any means necessary - including assassination.

But Genevieve refuses to let her mother become yet one more victim of the war. Reuniting with her long-lost sister, she must find a way to navigate the perilous cross-currents of Occupied France undetected - and in time to save Lillian's life.

For fans of Danielle Steele's The Spy, Jane Thynne's Black Roses and Heather Morris' The Tattooist of Auschwitz, this exquisite novel illuminates three women's strength, courage and capacity for unconditional love.

Reader Reviews:

'Perfect! This novel was the first I've read by this author but I will definitely be reading more of her work. It was pacy, exciting, heart-breaking in places, with a truly believable romance sub-plot that was centred around characters I cared about.'

'A high octane read which is a real page turner and captures the heightened tension of the war perfectly. A brilliant read that I would recommend.'

'This is an excellent WWII historical fiction novel and it is for anyone that loves a good plot, suspense, and anyone that loves to read about the impressive underdog of the Resistance in France during the Occupation.'

Robards paints a beautiful capture of the true Parisian Paris during WWII. Her first historical fiction should be praised for the attention to detail, emotional and action packed novel.'

The Black Swan of Paris by Karen Robards is an excellent historical fiction from beginning to end. This novel also keeps the reader engaged and enthralled due to the mystery, suspense, and the romantic aspects that are added as well.

This book takes place in the thick of it: Paris under occupation in 1944. Genevieve Dumont is an excellent female protagonist. She is smart, strong, fiery, loyal, loving, flawed, and a fighter. I enjoyed her relationship and chemistry with Max. The things we do to fight for those we love and for what is right. She is truly brave.

I enjoyed the plot and the suspense associated with the attempt of survival during the women’s mission kept me on edge throughout.

I enjoyed the pace, the intricate and exciting plot, the cast of characters, and I truly did enjoy the ending.

This is an excellent WWII historical fiction novel and it is for anyone that loves a good plot, suspense, and anyone that loves to read about the impressive underdog of the Resistance in France during the Occupation.

Excellent 5/5 stars

The Black Swan sings in Paris and works undercover for the Resistance. Her manager Max has an undercover mission which could put them both in danger. The book is wrapped in secrets, lies and tensions as they plan to extract Lillian who has been captured by the Nazis and holds valuable information that could put the Allies in jeopardy. A high octane read which is a real page turner and captures the heightened tension of the war perfectly. A brilliant read that I would recommend. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me review this book.

The Black Swan of Paris is a story about secrets, espionage, danger, loyalty, family, love and war.

The Black Swan Of Paris is about a woman called Genevive Dumont who actually has another life. She's hidden this from her "manager" Max who is actually a Brit SOE. Lies everywhere! When Genevive hears her mother has been kidnapped, fear strikes leading her to go after her! .
.

Max and Genevive's chemistry is mysterious, enticing and fascinating. He knows her so well but she won't let anyone in because of her past! Robards paints a beautiful capture of the true parisian Paris during WWII. Her first historical fiction should be praised for the attention to detail, emotional and action packed novel. She mentions all the iconic places in Central Paris making you feel as though your there with Genevive. There is so much sophistication to her attitude being a rich star but this isn't her life. It proves that not everyone had such a lavish lifestyle at that time: Rich or Poor. You will honestly be sucked right into this book 😍 There's a slight ring of similarity to Chanel Cleeton and Danielle Steele which makes it nice to relate to. ou are immediately drawn in to the fear and heartbreak Paris is yet to bring during WWII. .

It would be nice for her to write about Max or her mother next!
