A great guide for getting seniors to exercise regularly. I found the overview on the benefits of exercise for this group highly motivating. The illustrations and instructions for the included exercises — from stretching to chair exercise, using small weights to yoga and Pilates — were easy to follow. This is just what I need to kickstart my own exercise program, starting today!

All the excuses you can think of are answered in this book, very useful practical advice and support to make a start on a regular exercise routine without going to a gym. The benefits of excessive on mood and happiness, nutrition and diabetes, muscle tone and stamina, all explained in simple terms. Never tried yoga, if you understand the benefits it might get you started, I will give it a try. Links to free resources online and charts etc to complete so you don’t feel alone. Excellent motivational book. Thank you #NetGalley for the copy to review.

A helpful book that my mom and aunt loved. I should say they made me do some of it and although I am not 60 plus it helped me too. It was a wonderful workout and it made me feel better too.

This is an excellent informative and motivational fitness book for seniors. The exercises are easy to understand and follow. The diagrams of each exercise ensure that you are doing them correctly to prevent injury. Anyone can exercise for 7 minutes and this short amount of time should prevent burnout or injury. I found this instructional book to be an excellent source of inspiration. Can't wait to incorporate this into my daily routine.
Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this advanced review copy. In return, I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

Informative on reasons why exercise is so important including illustrations and how to do stretches, use weights, exercises, yoga, and a 7 Day Strength Training Plan.

What a great book for us oldies. I was looking for something like this so I could get a bit of extra strength training in (and I am not a great exerciser other than walking) and this book gave me all the info and exercises I needed.

I am working my way through it to see what best works for me and I am very happy with what I have been doing so far.

Highly recommend!

Although I am not quite yet at the target age having long covid has aged me considerably. I found the exercises and routines useful. I skimmed read the first few chapters, as not that relevant to me, but they looked well researched.

I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.

This book offers quite a bit to motivate older people to exercise. It identifies perceived problems and barriers, provides simple illustrations for yoga and strength moves and a progressive 7 day program.
My only criticism is that I felt it fell a little short in assuming a certain level of flexibility, specifically for getting onto the floor for some moves. But on the whole, there’s something to be gained for everyone, the reader might just need to be selective and modify some of the suggested exercises.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an e-copy of this book for review.

What I like about this book is that although the exercises are not new it is good to have them all in one place and there are plenty of exercises to maintain interest and variety whilst building up an exercise habit.

Considering it is a book for over-60s I would have liked the illustrations to the exercises to have been more representative of this age group. Other than this I would be happy to use this book and to recommend it to others trying to get fit over 60.

I have seen or done most of the exercises in the book but it’s a good review. Plus i like that the author gave step by step Instructions in how to do them correctly and things to remember when doing the exercises to prevent injury and why it is important to do them. Also like the illustrations. It definitely takes some tailoring after age 60.

This would be a great way to get started with a routine.

Thanks to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the opportunity to read this book.

While the book is written with seniors in mind it is actually a good fitness guide for any age whether you are a beginner or want to add flexibility exercises to your routine. The first 3 chapters discusses general physical health, benefits of exercise, and common misconceptions. Exercises are grouped into basic introductory stretches, bodyweight training, and yoga with brief statement of difficultly level, equipment needed, and suggested repetitions.

It is well written with steps spelled out and a simple graphic to illustrate the main step. Due to the simple exercises described a step-by-step visual guide is not necessary. The section on yoga is a welcome addition with sections addressing chair yoga for hip and lower back pain, yoga for stiff and tight legs, and yoga for lower back tension. The 7-day workplan includes a guide for warm-ups, strength workout, and meditation. An overall excellent guide.

I received this book from the publishers via Netgalley for a review. Easy to follow instructions, a good range of exercises

Many practical exercises and advice that people of any age can use. I do agree with another reviewer who mentioned need to be careful for (intentional or unintentional) health shaming regarding people's health and their level of exercise. I think the intention is to try to help people so I get that, but I also know that given various forms of body dysmorphic disorder and shame people have for their bodies, it's important to be sensitive to the these factors. I do hope to use several of his exercises/suggestions.

Note: I voluntarily requested, read, and reviewed this book. Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for sending me a temporary digital advance reading copy/advance review (ARC) galley of this book in exchange for an honest review. As always, my opinions are my own and do not represent my co-host or the podcast. I request, read, and review many books prior to publication to explore possible future guests for the podcast. I wish we could interview the author of every one of these books because I'm so impressed by the creativity, thoughtfulness, and wisdom shared through the temporary books I get through NetGalley.

As someone in the aforementioned age group and also starting to think about taking regular exercise ( as opposed to none for most of my adult life) I found the introduction very reassuring . I was pleased to read that exercise at my age is not harmful and is beneficial. I was greatly concerned that I will do myself an injury and that it will be futile.
I found the introduction before the actual exercises very interesting as it describes the ageing process and the effects on the body. It also details the benefits of regular exercise in the older person.
The description and pictures associated with each exercise are clear and concise and I look forward to trying them . I may not manage all of them but I’m willing to give it a go.

7 Minute Fitness Strength Training for Seniors and Over 60+ by Liam Owen is a clearly written, easy to follow and seriously motivating set of instructions for anyone of “a certain age” who wants to work on getting more exercise without hurting themself...perfect for me, as I have a tendency to dive into an exercise program full on, and end up with pain or injury. Complete with detailed instructions and illustrations, along with tips regarding equipment, nutrition, and how to stay motvated. I'm ready! Five stars.

A big thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is an adult exercise book. It is a great reminder of a lot of simple, easy, nothing needed to do exercises for home. Easy to look at pictures that show how to do it correctly. It also has some dos and don'ts and some warnings. Overall a good book-simple and easy to use. 4 stars

Although I am only in my late 50's, I wanted to review this book to see what types of exercises they would recommend. I found the explanation of the benefits of exercise to be very motivating even to someone in their 50's. The exercises were nicely illustrated and easy to understand. I would recommend it to anyone in their 50's or above.

Good guide to basic exercises that almost anyone, including seniors can do. I just turned 60 and need to do more to improve flexibility. This was a great way to start. It will put readers on a path to basic wellness that can then be expanded upon.
