Description

Fun & flirty short story from the exciting new chick lit author Nikki Moore!

Made in Chelsea?

Nathan Black is on a mission to prove himself. His family may be upper class and his cousin Matt might be a famous music producer, but he's going to make it on his own. So as soon as he has enough money set aside, he's quitting his bar-tending job on the King's Road and opening up his own cocktail bar. He hasn't got time for love, and definitely not with the spoilt Chelsea Princesses who flirt with him shamelessly every night. But is there something a bit different about the pretty blonde who's just walked in?

Bournemouth girl Sofia Gold is reluctantly visiting old childhood friends in London for Easter weekend. Keenly aware she's not part of their glamorous world, she's more comfortable riding a surfboard than wearing designer dresses and towering heels… although she's always had a soft spot for cocktails.

It's never really bothered Sofia that she's 'one of the boys,' and that her romantic experiences have been amazingly unspectacular, so when she meets gorgeous Nathan, why does she find herself faking an accent and pretending to be a London socialite? It can't be anything to do with impressing him, can it? After all, she's only in the capital for a few days…

But one impulsive kiss later, they both find themselves wishing for things they didn't know they wanted.

Spring in Chelsea – will love blossom?

The story was short but it was surprisingly detailed. The characters felt real and the beginning of their romance made sense. By the end of the story, you knew that it was really the beginning of their story. It is the first novella I have read by Nikki Moore and I really enjoyed it.

Sofia is a bit of a tomboy who is playing at posh town girl while she is visiting friends in London. She meets Nathan her first evening out with her friends. Nathan is the good looking (in a slightly nerdy way) bartender who completely misreads her and thinks she is a rich girl out slumming – and what he wants is a good, old-fashioned girl he can take home to meet the parents.

The story of how these two get together is humorous and a bit steamy. Thankfully, there is more humor and romance than simply sex, which is how I prefer my romance novels and which is especially great in a short story. It certainly makes me very interested in reading more by stories and hopefully, full length novels by Ms. Moore.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Cocktails in Chelsea- Nikki Moore (Love London #4)

The first few lines of this story capture most people's perception of the young set in Chelsea; the wealth, designer lifestyle and the 'plum in the mouth', speech affectation. Whether this is really true of Chelsea's residents is incidental. It's the popular belief about life in this privileged borough of London. 'Cocktails in Chelsea' puts the reader at the heart of it.

Sofia's character is easy to recognise and empathise with. She is the 'girl next door' and appears ordinary at first glance. She has hidden depths, which make her worthwhile getting to know. Sofia's self-effacing sense of humour and outlook on life is refreshing. The chemistry between Sofia and Nathan is well written and their story realistic, given their close proximity and the fact they are both so different from the Chelsea set.

This story is a compendium of emotions; jealousy, snobbery, misunderstanding, passion and hope. 'Cocktails in Chelsea makes a delightful read; something to brighten up the daily commute or let you escape to somewhere glamorous and romantic for your lunch break.

I received a copy of this book from Harper Impulse via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

In this fabulous instalment of the #LoveLondon series by Nikki Moore we meet tom-boy Sofia. Sofia is into surfing and skating, so as you can imagine staying in Chelsea with two of her (extremely posh) childhood friends for the weekend is not her idea of having fun…
However, keen to fit in Sofia dons her high heels and a rather revealing outfit and joins her friends on an outing to a cocktail bar.
When she meets gorgeous barman Nathan Black she does her best to give off the impression that she belongs in this world and is a London socialite herself. Despite her best efforts and attempts at a posh accent, Nathan doesn’t seem to be interested. Why, you ask? Well, he’s actually fed up of rich Princesses flirting with him every night. He wants someone different, someone who stands out from the crowd…someone a bit like the real Sofia…

I loved every single minute of this fun, flirty romance and really wished it was actually longer than its 40 pages because I could easily have devoured a full length novel about Sofia and Nathan.
The fact that they don’t get off to the best of starts makes the story even more intriguing because YOU know that Nathan wants a girl who isn’t a typical ‘Chelsea Princess’ but Sofia doesn’t know this (and therefore continues to impersonate a Chelsea Princess…) The two of them have a sizzling chemistry and you can’t help but me silently egging them on to get together. I fell in love with their blossoming romance, despite this only being a novella – I was swooning when Sofia stuck up for Nathan in front of the very snooty Christie.
I loved Sofia, mainly because she doesn’t conform to the ‘norm’ despite her best efforts. We’ve all been there – trying to change ourselves or dress in a certain way purely to impress others. However Sofia proves that maybe, just maybe, things can pay off if you are yourself.
If you’re read the previous three books in Nikki Moore’s #Love London series then this will be a must-read. I’d go so far as to say it’s my favourite so far (although there’s still a few to come, so I couldn’t possibly make that judgement yet…)
It’s light, lovely and extremely fun. I was surprised at just how emotionally involved you can get with a novella, hence my wishing that this was actually a full length novel. Not only because I adore Nikki Moore’s writing but I really bonded with Sofia and Nathan.
Cocktails in Chelsea is the perfect read for your boring commute to work; the minutes will fly by and it’ll leave you with a sense of happiness and a big smile on your face ready to face the day.

After reading (and loving) book number three in the #LoveLondon series - Valentine’s on Primrose Hill – author, Nikki Moore promised me a fun, frisky, light hearted short story and man oh man did she deliver!

Leading lady Sofia is staying with family friends for the Easter bank holiday weekend and when they take her to their favourite bar in Chelsea she bumps into scorching hot barman Nathan. However, a case of mistaken identity gets in the way of them getting together. It will take the truth to be revealed before these two crazy kids decide to make the right move.

I loved Cocktails in Chelsea. Sofia seemed fun even though she was a fish out of water in her surroundings; Nathan became even more likeable every time he put himself out there only to try and protect himself from who he believed Sofia to be. It sounds a bit random to say this but it was all very Shakespearean.

Nikki Moore has created another enjoyable story for the #LoveLondon series. This is definitely a collection of books which will make you fall in love with England’s capital.

I would like to begin by thanking Net Galley and HarperCollins UK for an advanced copy for my honest review! What a sexy, fun read for this Monday back to work! It was just what I needed as a pick me up to get me through my day!

Nathan Black is on a mission to make it on his own, he doesn't need his families ties and money to make it. He is planning to save up his money and as soon as he can he plans to quit and open bars of his own! Then this girl walked in. She was dressed like the rest, she talked like the rest but there was something about her that sparked his curiosity. He couldn't put his finger on it.

Sofia is visiting family friends in London for Easter weekend. She is a tomboy at heart but when they get ready for a night on the town, she dresses as they do and she is FAR from a tomboy!

Then they meet. At first he seems like a cocky jerk who thinks he knows all about her and her type. She proves to him that he is wrong on many levels! Then they kiss...Sparks fly and an amazing story unfolds.
