A Note From the Publisher

The idea for Balancing on the Edge was born during the COVID-19 pandemic — a time when the world suddenly faced not only a health crisis, but also a profound mental health challenge. As a coach, mindfulness practitioner, and corporate leader, I was surrounded by stories of emotional exhaustion, anxiety, and burnout. And as a researcher, I wanted to explore this topic and make it visible to others. The book began as a personal reflection, based on scientific data and personal experience, and evolved into a guide for anyone feeling overwhelmed or stretched thin.
I spent about a year writing the book. It was first published in Russian, where it was very warmly received. The book was longlisted for a national book award focused on mental health and well- being, and was also included in the Top 20 Psychology Books of the Year by Psychologies Russia. The feedback from readers made it clear that the book had touched something deeply universal. That response gave me the confidence to publish the English version — to share this message with a wider, global audience.
The timing also felt symbolic: I had just relocated to Portugal, starting a new chapter in my own life. Just like many of the stories in the book, this transition involved redefining what balance, resilience, and fulfillment meant to me.
