I'm kind of obsessed with how no-nonsense this book is. It jumps right into explaining internal remedies with infusions, decoctions, tinctures and syrups in a direct way that's easy to understand. From there it transitions into external remedies, including ointments, salves, liniments, poultices and compresses. There's no fluff, or extraneous details, and there's no need to jump back and forth to the first segment of the book as each herb includes it's medicinal uses along with which types remedies are used with it and how to do so. For example, borage includes not only adding it to salads, drinks and confections (which I've done frequently) but also how to make an infusion, and how to create a tincture. I also love that different herbs include relevant research, combinations with other herbs, and interesting folklore.

The plants are arranged in alphabetical order, which makes it easy to reference any you come across, and includes ample information about how they herbs work, what they're used for, nutritional information, and any necessary cautions. I also love how the herbs are easily recognizable with the detailed drawings included for each one! The final back section was also extremely helpful with detailed information on poisonous plants and how to treat yourself if you come into contact with them.

Overall, this is a fantastic resource for anyone who casually or seriously enjoys growing and harvesting herbs, and putting them into use within their own home.

I'm obsessed with this book!
Wow, this was such a thorough breakdown of plants and information. The detail she went into on every aspect of the plants was so helpful and the illustrations were stunning. The incorporation of folklore about the plants was a fun addition that I really appreciated and made the book even more whimsical.

The way the book was laid out and organized was perfection. I appreciated the alphabetical glossaries in the front and back, the separate section on poisonous plants and the consistency of information and layout per plant.

Living in Saskatchewan finding a plant book that actually applies to my area is very rare so this was a treasure trove of information that I cannot wait to apply to my life. I will without a doubt be purchasing this book once the physical copies come out. Its the kind of book one saves and passes down through the generations for sure.
