Description

LIGHTS ON!

Nothing is more important than turning on the light – in our own lives and those of others. Illuminating and expanding your consciousness is part of the life curriculum for every soul. This book illustrates how to realise the dimensions of the Self or Soul in practical life through the art of astrology and spiritual psychology, becoming an intelligent and loving gardener for yourself and others.

It offers a multitude of inspiring stories and tools for personal growth, as well as insights into navigating relationships and parenting.

Nina Bentzon has +30 years of experience as practitioner of transpersonal psychology and astrology and has helped thousands of people connect with their deeper, authentic selves. She also shares her own spiritual transformative story of healing infertility through inner guidance, and how entanglement in the energy field of others can affect us.

“I love other people’s stories, especially ones that say something on a higher spiritual level. Nina Bentzon’s worldly-wise book does just that. It is well-written, fascinating and contains a wealth of wisdom. I highly recommend it.”
– Lars Muhl, author of The Seer, and more.

Book Review: The Spiritual Gardener by Nina Bentzon

Rating: 3 Stars

I recently finished The Spiritual Gardener: Personal Growth through Transpersonal Psychology and Astrology by Nina Bentzon, and I’d give it a solid three stars. This book offers a thoughtful, down-to-earth take on personal development, blending spiritual psychology with astrology in a way that’s both practical and reflective.

At its core, Bentzon’s message is about “turning on the light” — awakening and expanding our consciousness to better understand ourselves and others. She uses the metaphor of gardening to describe this process, encouraging readers to become conscious caretakers of their own inner worlds. The book is filled with stories, tools, and insights that help guide personal growth, relationship dynamics, and even parenting challenges. Bentzon draws from her 30-plus years of experience, sharing not only professional wisdom but also her own deeply personal journey, including healing from infertility through inner guidance.

One of the strongest aspects of the book is how it’s structured around natural cycles—planting, tending, and harvesting—which makes the concepts easy to grasp and apply. Each phase builds organically on the previous one, maintaining a consistent theme throughout. This approach feels grounded and realistic, emphasizing steady and intentional growth rather than overnight transformation.

The writing style is accessible. Bentzon offers reflections and practices that invite active participation. The book encourages going slowly, making it a good fit for anyone looking to deepen their self-awareness without feeling overwhelmed.

That said, while I appreciated the thoughtful framework and clarity, I didn’t find the book particularly groundbreaking or deeply transformative for me personally. The ideas felt familiar if you’ve spent time exploring spiritual psychology or astrology before. It’s a gentle companion rather than a revolutionary guide.

Overall, *The Spiritual Gardener* is an inviting read for those interested in personal growth through a spiritual lens, especially if you appreciate steady, mindful self-work guided by a seasoned practitioner’s insights.
