After the cliffhanger in the first book I was eager to read this next and when I started I didn't stop until the end. It's star-crossed lovers in a dystopian world are a magnificent couple. It had my heart in my throat while smiling.

Ellie Errington has spent her life believing that following the rules is the only way to survive, but everything changes when the truth about her world begins to unravel. With Mace Hardfield refusing to accept a future decided by corrupt leaders, they find themselves caught in a dangerous fight that could reshape everything they have ever known. As old secrets surface and impossible choices pile up, they must rely on each other while deciding how much they are willing to sacrifice for freedom. This is a fast paced dystopian fantasy filled with action, loyalty, romance, and characters who are constantly forced to question what is right, making it difficult to put down once the story gains momentum.

Going back to this world was such a fun experience because the stakes felt much higher than before, and I loved seeing Ellie grow into someone who refuses to let others make decisions for her. Her relationship with Mace remained one of my favorite parts of the story since their trust and devotion gave the emotional moments real weight. The nonstop action kept me invested, although there were times when the pace barely slowed down, leaving little room to fully process some of the biggest moments. I also would have liked a little more development for a few secondary characters, since several of them had interesting roles that deserved additional page time. Even so, the blend of fantasy, romance, and political intrigue made this a compelling read that will easily appeal to readers who enjoy character driven dystopian fantasy with strong romantic tension and high stakes.
