Description

One curse.

Four mortal women.

Seven days before the gods are banished to Purgatory forever.

Shadow’s whole life is flipped upside down after her boyfriend breaks up with her at a coffee shop. Now, she must survive in a world where bloodmagic is currency, and she has none. Enter Augustine. He's handsome, charming, and just cynical (and witty) enough to capture Shadow’s attention. At first glance, he seems like the perfect answer to her problems. That is, until she learns that he’s secretly the God of Dreams, and he lives in a castle with all of his crazy siblings.

After being imprisoned within the castle walls, Shadow quickly learns she isn’t alone. Three other women share the same fated rules: fall in love with your assigned deity by week's end, and your life will be spared. Fail? And your life will be forfeited.

So naturally, the women make a plan. Don't fall in love, and the curse will condemn all the gods to Purgatory. If someone falls in love? The others will suffer the consequences.

But that’s the tricky thing about love, isn’t it? It never plays by the rules.

One curse.

Four mortal women.

Seven days before the gods are banished to Purgatory forever.

Shadow’s whole life is flipped upside down after her boyfriend breaks up with her at a coffee shop. Now, she...

“You can’t protect me from this & you know it.”
“I sure as hell can try.”
“Why?”
“Because you’re my Dreamshade, Raven. You’re the drug that I need to survive.”
A Curse of Love completely swept me away. From the very first chapter, I was hooked by a world filled with gods, dragons, blood magic, ancient prophecies, curses, and long-buried secrets. Despite the scope of the story, the world-building never felt overwhelming. It unfolded naturally, making every new revelation feel exciting rather than confusing.

Shay (Shadow) was everything I want in an FMC. She's witty, fiercely independent, and refuses to let the impossible break her spirit. Watching her navigate a cursed castle, unravel dangerous mysteries, and uncover the truth about her past made her journey impossible to put down. I especially loved the friendships she forms along the way. The women genuinely support one another, adding warmth to an otherwise dangerous world.

The romance was another standout. Augustine, the God of Dreams, is exactly the kind of mysterious, morally gray love interest I gravitate toward. His chemistry with Shay is packed with tension, banter, and yearning, and I loved slowly uncovering the layers beneath his guarded exterior. King Sylas and Sir Valiant were also fantastic additions, each bringing something unique to the story and making the cast feel rich and memorable.

One of my favorite aspects was how unpredictable the plot remained. Every time I thought I understood the bigger picture, another twist completely changed my perspective. The cursed castle, shifting alliances, hidden identities, and constant mystery kept me flying through the pages.

If you love romantasy with gods, dragons, blood magic, cursed castles, found family, slow-burn romance, witty banter, and a fearless heroine determined to challenge fate itself, this is one I absolutely recommend. I finished this book already wanting to return to its world and cannot wait to see what comes next.

A Curse of Love blended romance and fantasy beautifully. I loved watching the relationship develop naturally while the larger magical mystery continued to unfold around the characters.

The emotional journey was just as compelling as the fantasy elements, making this a story that stayed with me after I finished reading.

This book is so much fun with delicious banter and magic, wraiths, and dragons. I loved the FMC. She's sassy and funny and her story is revealed with excellent pacing and backstory. This book is like a puzzle where all the pieces and world building and characters come together. The friendship among the 4 women is wonderful and they have their own hilarious dynamics as well, yet their solidarity to help themselves out of this situation is lovely. And the romance is such a slow burn enemies to lovers perfection.

This book was a five stars read for me! I absolutely loved getting lost in this story. The mix of magic, romance, and emotional moments kept me hooked from the start, and I really enjoyed following the characters and their journey. The chemistry, the challenges they faced, and the way the story balanced romance with darker elements made it such an enjoyable read. I loved the atmosphere and how the book made me feel like I was part of this magical world. This was the kind of fantasy romance that keeps you turning the pages because you want to know what happens next.
